Those hitchhikers look like glass anemones/aipstasia. VERY BAD. They will grow out of control and begin to sting other corals. There are several methods for removing them, all very time consuming and usually not permanent. If they are just on one rock and that rock has nothing else on it...

Those are normal output T5's. You might have trouble selling those.

Are you sure they are 38 watts? HO T5's are usually 59 watts each.

Do you have more info about the lights? Exactly how old? What brand? I had a problem with fairly new bulbs. Tried everything else. Finally relaced them with a different brand and everything was fine. You might even find my old threads with the brand of the bulb in them.
