    Do You Believe in Miracles?

That's great! Congrats! We have a very stubborn Yellow Watchman that insists on living in our HOB Filter. We've tried putting him back in the tank, but he always makes his way up through the slits, and into the HOB. No one stresses him or anything, but I guess he likes his privacy. So now I...

    Puffer ?

I'm glad I don't have issues with my Valentini munching on coral. He's MUCH more interested in ambushing the hermit crabs and snails... doesn't bother our CBS either, but then again, our CBS can hold is own pretty well. Not sure if the Valentini or Spotted Sharpnose would do well in a hexagon...

    Disaster in the Nano!!

Also, having an anemone so early into the game isn't really a good idea. I'd wait for at least six months before adding an anemone... also, anemone's need sufficient lighting (MH's, VHO's, T-5's, etc.) not just fluorescents... it might have moved due to lighting or due to stress... Good luck!

    36' ballast w/ 2 Power Glo's

I'm selling a wired, 36' ballast with two 30-watt Power Glo's. We had the ballast with no problems in our canopy, and we've switched to MH's, so it's time for them to go. The Power Glo's are about 6 months old, so those don't have to go with the ballast, unless you want them for whatever reason...

    catching fish.... bad idea?

Agreed. If you catch something in the wild and they begin depending on you for food, it's never good to release them back into the wild... at least this is true unless you're an expert at Sea World or similar Anyway, yes, the Queen Angel will get HUGE really fast, so if you are able to, I'd...

    Pygmy Angelfish

You might be maxed out with the two clowns and a goby, but if you've got the filtration for one more fish, you could get away with it, I think. However, please remember that Angelfishes are algae grazers, and they LOVE to pick algae off the LR and tank walls. They love to dart in and out of...

    Fluorescents to MH's - Acclimation?

Okay, sounds good... thought it would be more complicated than that, but I'm glad I was wrong. We do have eggcrate on top of our tank, so that should help I think... I'm really excited now, because I can do more with the tank than zoo's and mushrooms Thanks so much for the replies!

    Fluorescents to MH's - Acclimation?

Hi all This is the first time I've ventured over to this part of the board... We currently have "skimpy" lighting in our tank: (2) 30 watt fluorescents and (2) 30 watt actinics. We're about to upgrade to a Metal Halide kit: 250 watt, 12,000k kit. Our favorite "fish guy" is giving us a...

    NEW AWESOME PICS & FISH!!!

There's nothing wrong if your puffer puffs up on its own. In fact, some puffers seem to puff quite regularly, whether it's a "half-puff" or a "full-puff," and they're none worse for the wear. It's bad when a puffer puffs out of water for sure, but some do it just to do it when in water...

Will a toby fit in a 28g nano?

On the contrary, my Valentini Puffer is incredibly active, always exploring the tank, looking into every nook and cranny, and of course, following me across the room. Any Puffer is a big waste producer, but of course, because of their smaller size, they [the Tobies] aren't as messy as the bigger...

    Puffer in a Community tank?

Hawaiian Puffers are basically the same as Valentini Puffers. They are a community fish, however, they are not entirely reef safe, as they will eat your snails and hermits, and possibly some shrimp... although my Valentini doesn't mess with my Coral-Banded Shrimp. I think you'll find that the...

    Puffers things

Tugg- That's cute I love 'Diddy to pieces! Tbonesteak - Yes, the shrimp's arm will grow back. My CBS has lost his arms/pinchers twice, during a tank rennovation, and they've always grown back. No worries there And I'm glad to hear that they (the fish) are not in a 55, however, a 65...

Will a toby fit in a 28g nano?

Mine does well in a community tank that includes two False Percs, so no worries there. However, I agree that there would have to be mad filtration and absolutely NO other fish, if you did the Toby/Percs. Good luck!

    My 1st reef tank

Welcome to SWF! I LOVE the way you set up the LR. I'd like to do something like that in my next tank. Looks great! Holy frijoles, though! It seems you have a ton of fish in that 55: "55 gal for fish, Pacasso Trigger, Porcupine puffer, Dwarf fuzzyface lion, Yellow tang, Jewel damesel, coral...

what to do i think my wrase may be done for:(

Try to describe the wrasse as best you can. Is there a way you can get a picture of him to post? As far as advice goes, try to catch him, otherwise it's likely he will die. Can you put him in the other tank he was in?

Will a toby fit in a 28g nano?

In a tank that small, if you did get a Toby, it'd be best if he was the only fish in there, as they are messy eaters and even bigger... well, you get the idea However, they are GREAT fish, full of personality. I have a Valentini, and he doesn't mess with my zoo's or mushrooms. He does like...

    new fish

A Midas Blenny would be awesome, but only if you have a good top. They tend to jump when scared. Firefish are a good, colorful choice, too, as is a Sixline Wrasse.

    PUFFER questions??

No puffer is safe with snails and crabs, although I agree that a Valentini or another toby/sharpnose puffer is your "best bet." My Valentini, Diddy, has ambushed every snail in the tank, as well as almost every hermit. The hermits now know to stay out of sight till nighttime, when Diddy is...
