    Home Made LR

OK I did that but it seems like it would be hard to make cave like feautres without the entire thing collapsing. i thought it would have a putty like consistancy to mold shapes that i want. I would like a few caves that are like giant socks (open on one end and about 6 inches deep. that would...

    Home Made LR

I cant find info on it, but I've heard from some customers at workt hat they used some kind of concrete and aragamax to make base rock. Is this cheaper than buying Lace rock? Has anyone here done this? I am asking because I am upgrading my tank and dont want to buy another 100 lbs of str8 LR...

    Anthias and bright lights

My independant research has told me that bartlett's, sunburst, squareback, and sometimes disbar anthias are the best choice for reefs, but squares get too big and i've heard that sunbursts are definitely finicky eaters. I just wanted to know if anyone else had them in reef systems?

    Eclipse 12 Saltwater Tank

I think a 12 is plenty of room for 2 percs, just dont add more than one more small goby-type fish if anything else. Id get about 10 lbs of live rock up to 50 lbs depending on density of what you get. 20 would be nice, btu ive tried doing that an it doesnt all fit

    What about Potters Angel

I've heard that potter's are like goniapora in a way. they tend to do well then suddenly and abruptly turn for the worse, prolly from poor diet or something. Personally I am going to the the potters. it will have nothing to compete for food (pods) and i have a rather healthy patch of algae of...

    Too many Pods?

Yea I was wondering about that. Right now i have 30-40 blue leg hermits, a few sally light foots and a pair of true percs. Right now I feed the tank a sanfran brand cube of HUFA brine, plankton, or mysis 3-4 times a week and dose my coral feeders once a week. Am I over feeding and causing...

    Halide fixtures and such

Heres the bottom line. I am going to be upgrading to a 125 and will need new lights. My 55 runs 4x65 watt PC bulbs and for the stuff I have and want to get in the 125 it works GREAT. I've been toying with the idea of upgrading to halides, but im a poor college student and here are my 3...

    Let there be light!

I think the far majority of SPS would be a bad idea, I've tried them under good amounts of PC and they still STN or RTN in my tank.

advice for starting 20 gal tank

IMO you can easily house 2-3 small fish like firefish, chromis, gobies etc etc. just go slow, dont get over zealous, and u might as well start saving for the upgrade now:cool:

    feeding starfish?

im fairly certain that they dont eat algae and actually eat slimes sponges and such from your rock. Subsequently, you need a lot of rock to keep them happy. Good Luck, Justin
