    Retarded anemone?

This thread was not started having anything to do with retarded (oops, mentally challenged) people. It is regarding what the original thread starter call a retarded anenome. The person used that term referring to an anenome that wasn't doing what he thought it was suppose to. Forgive me for...

    Dumb fish?

Even if a fish is cleaned of white spots (ich) it doesn't get rid of it out of the tank. I would not get a cleaner shrimp or fish to get rid of ich. The only real way to be sure is hypo.

    Retarded anemone?

Maybe I mistated the part about "on their own". Sessile: Sessile means the organism is attached to the substrate at the bottom of the ocean and therefore cannot move around. Pelagic refers to living in the water of the ocean above the bottom. Pelagic organisms have the ability to move around. I...

    Curing rock thats already cured??

Sometimes the tank can cycle and you miss the ammonia spike. If the nitrates continue to rise then it's cycled. Are you testing for nitrites also?

    Nitrates

I have cleaner clams but they don't do enough to noticeably lower nitrates. along with the cheato I have it may hold the nitrates at bay.

    acclimating new arrivals - URGENT

Don't put the acclimation water back in your tank. When acclimating using drip, depending on how long you will use more water. If you use 2 or 3 gallons that will need to be dumped after moving your fish to the main tank. Just mix up some more salt water to replace what you used for acclimating.

    PH question

Ocean water has a pH that runs from 7.6 in the open ocean to 8.4 in the reef areas where the average is 7.8. Most systems are run at 8.2 to 8.4. the most important thing about pH is that it should be stable and should not change more then .2 in either direction. When performing water changes a...

    acclimating new arrivals - URGENT

Most of the time a shrimp will molt after putting them in a new tank. Also they may do it at anytime instead of at night like they usually do. If you ever watched them molt sometimes they will just lay there for a long time without moving and will look very dead. Even if you stick something in...

    Tattered Fins On Fish

Don't you think it's possible that a fish could be sick and not show any real outgoing symptoms? Kind of like a person saying "I don't feel good" as a general statement but being a fish not feeling well we would not neccessarily know. Therefore maybe the only symptoms being its actions...

BRUTE garbage can and add salt. then I let it mix with a small power head for the rest of the...

    Is This Normal

Mine used to host a green star polyp but it got so busy in that area with the other fish that he moved to the corner. Now he swims all over the tank at feeding time and then goes back to the corner the rest of the time.
