    sickBrittle star

If the LFS water was of poor quality then your acclimation time I would think should have been at least 2 to 3 hours. I have a brittle and a serpent (pretty much the same thing) and I acclimated them each for about 4 hours when I got them at different time and places. They both acted like they...

    Brittle star losing legs

Brittle stars should be spot fed. Also, if all you are feeding your tank is brine shrimp then you need to get other food. Brine shrimp has no nutritional value unless they are young and alive. Try some mysis shrimp and get a variety of foods. The starfish is probably starving to death.

    Fish Stock

I wouldn't put anymore fish in that tank based on the information provided. The yellow tang will be fine but the blue hippo will need a bigger tank.

    Calcium testing

Salifert uses the same type of calcium test as red sea if the color goes from blue to a pink/red/orange color. Salifert as well as other test kits can be inaccurate if to old. I use the Salifet as well as digital testing and found both to be very accurate.

    Best kind of Salt Mix??

I may just buy a few 25 gallon mixes to see which is best for me. Whichever one works I can then buy a large container

    Best kind of Salt Mix??

I started with Oceanic and found the calcium was over 500 and alk was way low. I also found my Ph was low also. I switched to Tropic Marin Pro Reef and found nearly the same issues with calcium and alk but the pH was better but still low. Both salts dissolved well. IMO the Tropic Marin is a...

    Natural lighting

Most likely you will have a large problem with algea blooms, also it may heat the water up to much unless you have a chiller. Many people will say to never put an aquarium in front of a window.

    Another way to control Xenia?

I don't know about that since the fish just nips at it and everyone knows how fast Xenia grows. I have 5 stands pretty much connected at the trunk. The xenia also contracts when the fish comes by and nips at it but it is still open most of the day. The fish get plenty to eat, in fact I was...

    Another way to control Xenia?

I noticed my Coral Beauty is nipping at the silver branching Xenia. He is eating some of the fingers that open and close. It doesn't look bad yet but I think it will after awhile. Does anyone else have this happen? It's the only thing the coral beauty nips at other then algea in the tank. Is...

    Diamond Goby

The cloudiness will go away until the goby messes it up again. Sand sifting gobies sift the sand all day long and periodically the water will get messy but will settle again.

    LR placement??

If you aim is right it will work fine. The way the pumps work is based on volume and not so much on force. Just don't aim them straight down into the sand. People have been pumping that much water in that size of a tank for years and it works fine.

    diamond goby?

I turn my tank pumps off at feeding time that way it doesn't get blown all over the tank and go in the filter. The pumps are off for about 5 minutes and the food goes where I want it.

    Dinner Time

I've been making diy fish food for a while now. when I put garlic in I just use one clove and grate it on a garlic card (credit card with punched t's and k's) which I found online for about 5 bucks and works perfect. I get about 6 good size drops of garlic juice out of one clove and mix that...

    Clear coat paint?

Ornaments that go in fish tanks are made of plastic where the pastic is specially treated. I wouldn't put anything in my tank that wasn't designed to go in the tank.
