I have thought of doing the same thing. Just not sure I think the direct sun might be a problem. My porch gets western sun and I have to clear it out getting ready for a hurricane.

The PH is moving the water behind the rocks only that one spot is missing sand. As you can see there is no sand blowing around in the tank. I have also each water change removing sand I an going to go with a bare bottom tank.

We have had him in the same tank with the same fish nothing new in a LONG time. LRFO tank for at lest two years maybe more. He is very large Usually all we ever see is the legs sticking out reaching for his food. The past day or two he has been all over the tank and missing a leg with a wound...
