When they're in the ocean there is less to bump into in the open water. A little bump into the glass is too much for them and can kill them.

how big is the sump/fugium?

I kept fw for many years and told myself I would get a reef when I finished college and had money...what a joke. I am finished with my undergrad, have a nice reef, but money is still missing. Perhaps the reef and the lack of money are related somehow:thinking:

I have read that their sting/bite (however they do it) is painless and you can die without even knowing you were attacked. Sounds like a dream pet to me :)

I had/have a yellow polyp colony and my peppermints are decimated it. I was hoping it would get established, but they didn't let it. I just there one or two little ones left on the rock that might have a chance, but I have seen this first hand.

I think the reason most people avoid this is because the macro can start to grow into your pump and be a real pain to keep it from clogging. I would try to section off even a small part of your sump for macro--either with plexiglass, acrylic, or placing a small rubbermaid tub in there.

Wow, thanks waterfaller! None of these guys will munch on my other shrimp (peppermint and cleaners)? I just bought Reef Secrets by Alf Nilson and Svein Fossa and it makes all gobies sound like fierce shrimp preds. It is an okay book, but i would have preferred a little more advanced book.

I have never had either of the common foxface species, so take this with a grain of salt, but is there something for the fish to graze on? I had the same problem with my yellow tang until I went a few towns down to an Asian grocery store and bought a lifetime supply of nori, about ten dollars...

I was just on amazon and I had about a dozen reef/ocean dvds pop up in their suggestion box. Anyone order one there or know of one that they could suggest? I love the Blue Planet series, but they also had some from the Imax and others just to show off HD. What do you think?
