This is going to sound stupid

Huh? Are you asking if there are corals that don't need more than a plain strip light? Not any that I know of (or that will last long...)

    Chunk out of firefish!

I tried to take a picture but posting it is not worth it. The picture doesn't show the gash really well. His fins are split a little too. He acts fine - I'm just concerned that he'll be more susceptable to an infection. I'll start adding garlic... Any ideas on "who done it?"

    my grandma

With dementia - which can encompass alzheimers, parkison's disease, etc - it is common to forget the most recent memories and sink into distant memories. Often immigrants can stop speaking english and turn to their native tongue, which is hard on families who may not speak the language. They...

    acclimation question

Glad to help! Sometimes I get so irritated when I post a question and someone says: "Search for it" or "it's posted over there". Sometimes it just takes someone to explain it in "layman's" terms...

    acclimation question

The tubing cost 45 cents at my LFS. They will usually cut airline tubing per foot. We got 4 feet of tubing. Just put the fish (and the water they were in) in a bucket and make the knot tighter or looser for what flow you want. You want the flow to be a dripping - not a stream of water. If I...

    Clownfish that go together

None. Best to keep the same species together. Better safe than sorry IMO.

    acclimation question

The acclimation outlined here is not complicated at all! Just take some airline tubing and run it from your tank to a bucket (or a big bowl like I use) on the ground. In order to get water to run through the tubing you need to suck on the end of it a little (near the bucket). The water will...

    Pipe Organ Coral Help

I recently was at a LFS and came across a Pipe Organ Coral frag for cheap - couldn't pass it up. I know, I know - impulse buying not a good thing... Anyway, I've researched on these boards and other websites and haven't gotten much info - or I got conflicting info on them. Does anyone have...

How Big Are The B&w Clowns When You Order Them Off Here??????

Agent 14, You've asked a lot of questions on B&W clowns and I'm happy you're interested in them - they're great fish! But I've also read your threads on your other two clownfish. Are you planning on putting these clownfish together in your 20 gallon?

    Need Help Algae all Over

Are you by any chance using tap water? Tap water can have all kinds of stuff in it that promotes algae growth (Phosphate, nitrate, etc). Also, depending on how new your tank is, you might just be experiencing the expected diatom bloom (a rusty brown layer on your sand and rock) that should...

Critters that keep sand bed clean

Urchins aren't usually reef safe, from what I understand. I don't have personal experience with them. My conch is making me mad! He was hard at work for weeks and then got fat and lazy and has buried himself under the sand. Get out and work!!
