is it really necessary to let newly mixed salt airate for 24 hours before adding?

My non expert method is to keep a heated, powerhead stirred batch of saltwater mixed up and ready to use at least 7 to 10 days before I do a water change, which is every 2 weeks. I usually try to mix a fresh batch right after I do a change, so I will always have a supply on hand---just in case!

    ACORN group

Ah yes, with Van Jones, ACORN, the health care reform debacle, and Jimmy Cotter defending the prez, it is extremely entertaining watching the Dems shooting themselves in the foot at every turn. Obama's reign is starting to crumble as it barely gets started.

    Why do people cheat?

People cheat because Adam and Eve committed the first sin and thus we are all imperfect human beings. Some of us will cheat, lie, steal, hurt, and kill because of that imperfection.

    What do bio balls do???

OK, allow me to throw a wrench into the works here. Concerning the issue of which media is easier to clean, in the case of live rock, why would you want to clean it at all. I don't clean the live rock in my DT, so why would I want to clean LR/rubble in my sump?

hang on back overflow or built in?

RR for sure. I drilled my tank after suffering the worry and hassle of an OF box. If I had it to do over again, I would definitely go with a drilled or RR tank from the start.

    Salt Water Aquarium Setup?

LOL, the first time I ever set up a sw tank, I used fake corals, fake anemones, and crushed coral. As has been stated, the fake stuff looks sort of ok for a while, but soon starts to look not so good. I have long since moved to real corals with live rock and live sand. Way more realistic and...

Remember also that powerheads and pumps contribute heat to the system so their usage and application should be optimized as much as possible.
