    update - 1 week with RO/DI unit

Did you heat the "change" water before adding it? I would think that a 35% water change could effect the temp dramatically and, depending on the size of the heater, it just couldn't keep up with that fast a drop. Just my wild thoughts as usual but you might consider bringing the change water up...

    Building a Stand for a 75

No bowing at all, absolutely level as can be but I just opened it and checked my earlier statements, I lied, it has 4 2x4's on their sides, glued and lagbolted together in the front section ... oops sorry bout that. Later, Paul

    Building a Stand for a 75

I'll try to discribe my setup for what it's worth. I have a 220 gallon tank, overall length is 8', six feet of that is actual tank and 2 feet on the left side is an "equipment" cabinet. There are three supports, far left, far right and one on the left hand side of the actual tank, this leaves me...

    Too much light?

All the literature I've read says to go slow with lighting upgrades or even bulb changes. I'd say the best bet is to turn on the VHO's one at a time over the period of a couple of weeks. If all the corals are doing okay with 160 watts, maybe turn on 1 - 110 VHO for a week, then 2 for the second...

    Has anybody bought fish online.

I think you'll quickly discover that the way to earn the wrath of the sharks and SWF.com administrators is to post a link to another online source of things sold by SWF.com. Periodically there are some on here who will be happy to email you alternative sites if you request the information but...

Is there any way to speed up the flow through our bulkhead fittings?

hello again :) when I suggested not gluing the fittings, I was only talking about the male threaded fittings going into the bulkheads themselves. All the other fittings should be glued, or clamped if using flex hose. The reason for not gluing the bulkhead fittings is to avoid just the situation...

Is there any way to speed up the flow through our bulkhead fittings?

Sorry, I was typing as you were posting ... I would certainly say that it would be worth the price of 2 new bulkheads and I'd suggest never "gluing" fittings into the bulkheads, way too limiting to future plans! Good Luck, Paul

Is there any way to speed up the flow through our bulkhead fittings?

LOL Choooooooo Chooooooooo I think I can, I think I can ... Okay then, if you're running 2 1" bulkheads you *might* increase the flow by trying this ... from bulkhead 1" threaded male to 1.5" slip fitting. 1.5" slip to 1.5" tee (see my previous comments) and running 1.5" to sump. Although in...

Is there any way to speed up the flow through our bulkhead fittings?

Two thoughts, 1) increase the drain line size, go from a 1" threaded fitting on the bulkhead to 1.5 or 2 inches, but more importantly (Broomer jump in if I'm off base here) 2) the airline idea was close but I'd go to a "tee" fitting with the top of the tee pointing straight up, the side of the...

    Beth + Terry B, I got a question

    Plumbing Questions

That's basically what I did so obviously I agree 100% with your ideas LOL ... one other note, avoid 90 degree elbows like the plague, you can buy what are called "sweeps" for making 90 degree turns and they use about half the "head pressure" of a regular 90 degree ell fitting. I didn't and boy...

    Plumbing Questions

Well if you use regular PVC yes, use the purple primer and regular cement. Personally, I went with regular PVC for most of my "static" plumbing and clear tubing with hose clamps for all pump connections. HTH Later, Paul

    Building new tank!

Just a side note, the sliding MH light that was mentioned above was/is designed for hydroponics and greenhouses. No reason it couldn't be used over a tank though if you use the right Mh bulbs. I'm not sure how the mechanics of the thing would stand up to the salt "spray" and the humidity of an...
