Yes you can use distilled water to calibrate a refractometer... Put the drops on the the lense and adjust the nob untill it becomes 0 Refractometers are the only way to go if you plan on having a successul reef.

I believe if you keep enough sand sifters in the sand to slowly continuesly sift the sand it releases those nutrients slowly over time and they dont get to build up and eventually "crash"

The lights you are talking about will work for ALOT of corals... Anenomes need super strong lighting. I have the same lighting and have 1 Rose Bubble Tip Anenome and it has gotten alot smaller since i bought it from a store that kept it under Metal Halide Lighting... If you want an anenome solly...

No but its made by Instant Ocean, i think.. Im not sure what the differences are .

Its no problem at all as long as you keep the salinity the same... DONT change to Oceanic.. it has SUPER HIGH CALCIUM and SUPER HIGH ALK... very unstable, i also had PH problems with Oceanic, i switched to Instant Ocean and now my tank is doing MUCH MUCH Better!
