Fish are fine, water is perfect, corals are wilting. Can you guess the problem?

Stray voltage....now I have heard of this, but never though much about it, and like another poster stated, seems to be a problem lately. I have a gfci plug in my wall, 6 strip surge protector ( a good one I know) is plugged into that, then all my electric is run off of that...does this eliminate...

My Leather Cabbage Needs Your Help! Please Answer!

I probably dont have enough experience to comment on coral except some easy care softies, but the salinity maybe too low as a factor at all? I had always heard 1.025 which is what I keep mine at for polyps etc...

Any Good Threads on Apastia Control?

They survive because they ar ebasically marine weeds! Think of your lawn or garden, no matter what condition it is in, something will always grow...crabgrass, clover etc...Aptasia is an oceanic crabgrass lol

Your Substrat Type Preference? I want to change mine.

Bailey, Yea, I agree, it is the maintenance that is the bad part. When I first had a cc, I had problems, until I was told to change water by vacuuming it, then I never had another problem again that I could relate to the cc...I had trate problems in the past, but it was definately from...

Your Substrat Type Preference? I want to change mine.

Man, I'm tired of the bad rap cc gets. It is like a diet fad...this week it's good and deep sand bed is bad...then its deep sand bed is the way to go...then its back to cc...then it's no do only a 2" sand bed etc etc... Ive had cc fo ryears, don't have a problem with trates because I keep up...

    Nitrates at 80!!What to do?

Sand is no better than crushed coral and vice versa. It's a matter of preference. There are people now who say a deep sand bed is not great either. So do what you want, stick with what you got, just do the things that will make it work for you. I have had cc beds for a long time. It is a matter...

With A Cannister, Why Would You Want To Run Carbon? Or Why Not?

Since I didnt know any better, and dont have the room for refug, sump or protein skimmer now anyway, I use a cascade (pen plax) 1500 canister, and since dont have a fuge etc, I keep carbon in there. I wouldnt get the pads they suck. I use the stuff you buy by the lb and have a mesh bag. I also...

How do People Balance a mixed coral tank with sps and soft coral?

mods experts I need some help

Also, after re-reading your post again, while your water parameters were fine at the time, you added so much at one time, that you could have gotten "new tank syndrome" which basically means you threw any equilibrium out of whack in a short amount of time by adding so much livestock at once. You...

mods experts I need some help

whoa...that's a whole lot of writing that I still after reading 3 times can't get a handle on! There are way too many variables it seems to pinpoint anything...could be your sandbed, your liverock, could be chemicals you can't test for in the water (people have killed fish with windex...

How many cleaners do you have???

I have about 25 turbos, 3 larger snails (dont remember the names off hand sorry) 3 larger hermits, 3 scarlet (cant find anymore locally, and SWF.com has that stupid minimum!) 15 blue legged, 3 emerald crabs (getting 3 more friday at lfs) and 1 coral banded shrimp. I know it may seem like a lot...

Too Much Cleaner Crew To Start With???

Probably shame on me, but I don't test for or add anything to my tank as far as iodine, calcium etc. I do not have hard corals, only softies, and they grow very nicely, so i figure don't fix what aint broken. I figure if I see a decline in anything, my LFS isnt too far I can always get...

Too Much Cleaner Crew To Start With???

Hell, for $15 would have probably taken them too! Yea, I think youre fine with your new list. Beleive me, it sucks in a way once your tank is filled, and you can't put anything new in because your at a bio load limit-although that didn't really stop me, and I have an overstocked tank. However...

Too Much Cleaner Crew To Start With???

I would say that the brittle star should be nixed just for now. Wait until your tank is established a bit more. If you read any of the posts by ophiura, she has a lot of good advice for stars, and one is they should be introduced a bit later-after 6 months plus. I like the scarlets better than...

lol...well maybe you want to wait for more opinions? I think I am right, but hopefully someone will second it :-)

    confused

Go with the 92! Bigger is better, and will be a little bit easier to keep your water parameters in check. Keep in mind-the warnings however about the depth is correct. I have a 60 hex, and man, geting to the bottom of the tank is a challenge! I have to stand on a chair, and I have a long pair of...
