I have never tried it but I know my dogs dont care for it. Are you running all of your household water through an RO/DI? I plumbed mine is seperate from everything else in the house so all it does is fill trashcans of tank water.

    Red algea is back

Maracyn for freshwater will get rid of the cyno but you still need to try and find the underlying cause. Add 1 crushed up tablet per 10 gallons to your tank and the cyno will be gone in 3-4 days. My 220 FOWLR was covered in the stuff and it cleared with no side affects. I never did really ID...

    Algae question...

Maracyn for fresh water will get rid of the red slime algae but you will still need to figure out what the source is. Just add 1 crushed up tablet for every 10 gallons of water and it will be gone in a couple 3 days. I just used it on my 220 that was covered. My entire sand bed and all of my...

air pump pushing water too fast.

I had a similar problem on my 220. I added the valve that has been suggested but I also ran a return line back to my sump so the pump runs a full pressure with the water going to the tank is adjustable. So it goes, sump pump return line to a "T", with 1 line going back to the sump and the...

Do you cure your own live rock?

I have purchased cured live rock several times and have always had good luck wit it. You are going to go through a small curing process because there is going to be some die off during shipping. You can do this in your main tank just get ready for water changes and skimming. The smell from this...

    help

I am leaning away from windex being the cause and more toward a disease or an ammonia spike from a mini cycle. Regardless, if you had ick in the tank you will want to leae it fish free for 6-8 week to allow the ick to run it life cycle and die off. I would also raise salinity to 1.025. IMO

    Please explain to me

The pipes that are included with your tank go inside the piece you referred to has the black hump. There should be 2 holes drilled through the bottom of your tank inside the "hump". 1 hole is for water leaving your tank throught 1 pipe and the 2nd hole is for water returning to you tank through...

please help me answer this questions...

    1. There is no true minmum. Some people have nano tanks that are just a coule of gallons. 2. I think bigger is better. My tanks, until the cracked glass incident last night were a 110 and a 220. I wouldnt start with anything less then a 55 gallon myelf. When you make a mistake in a small...

    Washing Sand

Yes, rinse, rinse, then rinse again. I recommend adding the rinsed sand to the tank 1st before any water is added. Cover the sand with a layer of plastic (garbage bag or plastic drop cloth) and then filing the tank about 1/2 to 2/3s of the way with water before removing the plastic. This...

    Changing Tanks

If you are just moving the decor from 1 tank to another and not the wter i see no real reason to worry about cleaning off the old tap water. You want see any problems from that. You might want to consider purchasing an RO/DI now. Transporting 125 gallon to fill up a tank and then water...

110 Gallon glass break at 1AM!

Reading around the forums the recommendation seems to be to only replace about 2 inches of the sandbase along with the LR and corals and i shoud be OK regarding ammonia. I will probobly see a small spike anyway. Need to read up and see if there is a way to get the remainder of the sand back in...

110 Gallon glass break at 1AM!

At 1am this moring I was awaken by my water alarm on my 110 reef. :scared: It seems a rock had shifted cracking the rear glass. I had a crack going from side to side about 6inches off the bottom of the tank. I guess I was losing about 3 gallons per minute. Right now all of my LR and...

    Let's talk about ick, baby

I have used Stop Parastite and Kick Ich. Both of these products are reef safe and both of them really didnt take care of the problem. The only thing they got rid of was my money. Hypo works! IMO.

    Very Very New!!! Need Help!!!

Something that I dont believe was mentioned.....if it was a freshwater tank you need to be sure no copper meds were used in the tank. Copper, even trace amounts in the tank will create a probem with some freshwater inverts, corals, LR.
