I recently "crashed" my 220 tank by adding copper to a tank with what use to be 180lbs of LR. Copper kills live rock, ammonia spikes, you know the rest. Was a bad day in waterworld.
I have no idea what started the YTs injury/infection. While looking at the PBT my wife moticed the YTs injury. Any suggestions ona course of treatment? I started treating the entire DT with Parasite Stop (sorry Beth). I have heard both good and bad about this ite but I have a 220 with more...
Here is a better picture of the PBT. The YT has been around a couple months. I have had the PBT for quite some time but the tank crashed a month ago and the PBT went through heck. The scales on the PBT are fine. The things you see of the image are the small little streamer things coming off...
I have a PB Tang that had what I thought was ich but now I am not so sure. The small white spots that had developed on him now have, for a lack of better words, small streamers coming off of them. While looking at the PBT I notice a nasty looking spot on a Yellow Tang. Both of these fish are...
Hate to jump in on a thread but I have having a similar problem with ich. I had it a few weeks ago in a 220 FOWLR tank and treted the tank the kick ich. I thought I had it beat but over the last several days the ich has returned with a vengence. I have ordered 64oz of parasite stop to treat...
If we are talking true LS with actual living creatures and bacteria in the bag I really dont think there is a shelf life of 12 months. I may be wrong but it just doesnt sound right. I would treat LS much in the same way I treated LR being shipped. The sooner you get it back in SW and at the...
You might want to stop by your LFS store see if they can bag and oxygenate the fish for the move and place then in a styrofoam box with a heat pak and move them as if they were being shipped.
The first thing I would do is make sure your tank is safe for SW. Seeing as it was used in FW there may be copper in the tank that is not reef friendly. Clean the tank with a solution of muratic acid (1/2 gallon to 55 gallons of water )and srub the tank good. Use a long handle brush a long...
My powder blue gets along with my purple and 2 yellow tangs. I did have an issue when i tried to add a powder brown in with the blue. Thant didn't even come close to working.
I had a bit of a time getting my new v.lion to eat. He was a good 3-4 inches but what finally made the difference was cutting up silversides on an angle and making them a little torn/shreadded looking so they somewhat resembled a ghost shrimp. Now he eats anything and everything.
I have a 220 FOWLR tank with yellow tangs, PB tang, pink tail trigger, niger trigger, v. lionfish, bursa trigger, foxface rabbitt fish, lemonpeel angel, flame angel, hogfish and a purple tang. They all get along great.........right now.
There are currently 2 medications for ich that are reef safe that I am aware of. Kick Ich and Parasite Stop. I have used kick ich in my 110 reef, it got rid of the ich and didnt harm anything in the tank. However, kick ich did not cure the ich in my 220 FOWLR. I have parasite stop on the way...
I would imagine that disturbing the CC substrate is going to release a high amount of nitrates into the water. If its a FOWLR tank its not as big of an issue as it would be with corals or inverts. In a FOWLR tank I woud remove LR and put in in a holding tank (trashcan w/saltwater), remove the...
Take a look at the Typhoon III. The unit comes with about all of the attachment you need for a standard hook up including a TDS meter. You can also get a float valve attachment so you have water whenever you need it. I cant tell you how many times I flooded my water room before I added the...
If your search for a QT fails and you do determine that you have ich in the tank you can try Kick-Ich. I have used it twice with good results. It's about a 2 week program but i did get rid of the ich. As a footnote, I also increased the recommended dosage to a dose every other day instead of...
