    pods for mandrin

I had the same problem untill I made my own refuge. An old 2 1/2 gal. plastic betta tank I had in the shed and $5 worth of pvc did the trick. I hardlined the protein skimmer up from the tank, made it empty into the betta tank, drilled the betta tank and made it empty into the tank. Some ls, lr...

Red Slime plus Hairy algea Yikes

First step is to stop feeding. Most of the time alge outbreaks can be traced back to too many nutrients in the water.

How long have you had your mandarin?

Mandarins are tough. I have one on my 90 reef. He does eat brine shrimp, so that helps. I also made a small cheap fuge out of an old plastic 2 1/2 gallon betta tank. Cost me all of $5 for the pvc connections. I put 3 inches of sand, 8lbs. og lr, and some macroalge. Mandarin doing great!

    Engineer Goby and sand ?

Can't say I agree with going sanless, but I really don't think it should affect him too bad. If you look through the holes in my reef, there is no sand under it anyway. My goby has gotten it all out.

    Green Mandarins

I had the same problem, wanted a mandarin, no refugium, so, I made one! My tank is a room divider, so it can be seen from both sides, so my bak-pak protein skimmer is on the side. I came up with this idea. I built a wood box on the end of my tank, put the protein skimmer at the back of the box...

    Montipora really need flow?

Montaporas usually are on the top of a reef where the wave action is strongest. I would say if you can't move them, redirect your power heads.

Need help with one of my feather dusters!

Hate to say, but it probably is dead. Once the tubes start to turn black, that's usually a sign.

coco worms have a hard calcium case. These are in the exact same soft cases as regular hawaiian feather dusters.

    Feather Duster Quest reaps rewards!

They are what is known as Christmas Tree feather dusters - Spirobranchus porites. From what I have been reading, somewhat rare in the hobby, or maybe seldom seen is more accurate. The Christmas Tree Worm, or Jewel Stone, was first described by scientists in 1766. Its crown comes in a variety of...

    Mimic Lemon Peel Tang

Don't tell my wife. $55 I would not mix another tang in with one that already has it's territory established. If you had put them in at the same time I would say yes.

    Mimic Lemon Peel Tang

I think it all comes down to the individual personalities. Some fish adapt, others don't. All I can say is, after a week, he shows no sign of ich, is eating very well, has a gut on him, and plays with my other fish like he has always been a part of my system. You can always get ANY fish that is...

Again, I'll let you argue that point with the vets, as I know their qualifications and the fact that by following thier advice I have a thriving tank, and I have no idea what, if any are your qualifications. BTW........I also read 3 books, (yes, they still print those in spite of the internet)...
