Is this the sand that you mix with live sand?

Salifert test kits.... The kit for amoina only has <0.5 as the lowest reading. I like these kits but have only used them once now. Also is there anything else I should test? I see people having data on Iodine, Potassium, Iron, etc.

How do you tell live sand from dead sand and how do you remove it?

Before you have a lot of fish you may want to rethink the CC substrait. I have CC and am working to remove it for a live sand bed. It looks like it is going to be messy with a couple of fish and some inverts.

I am thinking about doing this as well..... How much sand did you use, and how much of each type. what is a commerial brand that I can pick up to use with the live sand? I assume the live sand goes on top.... I was told never to rince off live sand. Was my LFS full of it?

Yes the tank is stocked already....I haven't added anything new in about 3 weeks.

I was told to stay away from metal....the salt will corode it in no time. I am sort new also....I understand the difference between a fish and a reef tank to be the plumbing. If it has overflows or holes drilled in it - it is designed for a reef. Right??

I have 2 items in my tank that I can't identify...They came on a live rock. They looks almost identical... Since they hide a lot I havn't been able to get a pitcure. They move like snails, and when they attach to the glass they look even more like a snail. They do NOT have a shell...are soft...

I did that and it worked....for the yucky foam. The suckung sound is still there. I tried having water and without water in the first chamber of the tank. The sound was still loud no matter what I did. Any thoughts?

I just got a used Prizim skimmer and it didn't come with the instructions (great condition though). The problem that I am having is that it is making a loud gurgling sound, and the over flow (made for yucky foam) fills up with clean water quickly. It does have water flowing through nicely...
