    Cyno/Lights/Cleanup Crew

FOWLR tank setup for about 5 months now. 2 clowns and a cortez angel. Had quite a bit of cyno start growing but i would say its under control. However I'd like to keep it under control and get rid of it if that is possible. My water params are just right. I checked phosphates and they were...

    Buying live rock online

I was nervous about purchasing my LR online as well. I overnighted the rock and paid about $3/lb including the overnight shipping (early November). I had very very little die off and received very very nice rock. I couldn't have picked out anything better from the LFS. - Nate

    First Purchase, First Scare

With a little help from you guys I went out and made my first purchase this weekend. I bought two small Oscellaris Clownfish, 3 snails, 1 starfish. Probably a little to much for the first purchase but the LFS guys assured me all would be well. Got them home safely and acclimated them...

    Cycle winding down

Is it time to get my first fish? Nitrates have been at 40 for over a week now. Did an 8 gallon water change last night and they seemed to have dropped to about 20. Thanks for the help. - Nate

    Peaceful or Aggressive

One last question... If I go the aggressive route I'm guessing a cleaning crew is out? I have 45 lbs of LR and wondering if I need to make sure something cleans up before things get out of hand? Thanks, - Nathan

    Peaceful or Aggressive

Thought about something today. If I have 2 clownfish in my tank and they decide to mate do I just let nature run its coarse? That considered 'unethical'?

    Peaceful or Aggressive

Do both of these lists pretty much max out the capacity of the tank? I suggested the maroons in the clown/anenome forum and i think they may work as well. I actually haven't seen the maroons in person, so maybe that would sway me one way or the other. - Nate

Getting very very close to a week and I'm getting impatient. Guess now would be a good time to run my fish lists by you guys, but I'll save that for another post. :happyfish

    Cycle winding down

Looking for opinions from a few of the regulars. I'm on the last stage of my cycle and my nitrates are sitting at 40 (nitrites = 0, ammonia = 0, ph = 7.8, SG = 1.024). The questions is this. Should I keeping waiting for the bacteria growth to lower the nitrates or do a 20% water change and...

    Clown and a Lion

Got a 54 gallon corner tank and I'd like to get a clown and a lion. Would a maroon clown and a lion be 'happy' together? - Nate

    Cycle winding down

Quick Update: My nitrites have dropped to 0 and my nitrates are still at 40. All other params are perfect. Do I need to wate for the nitrates to drop on their own or do a water change? Hope this means I'm ready to add my first fish!
