my opinion on hippos is as follows...#1 make sure you have enough room (they grow quick) #2 feed a good balance of green suplements( i used romain lettuce alot when i had my hippo)they get latteral line disease real easy ,so make sure you feed him well. i also used "selcon drops" on the frozen...

by the way rcd, the ballast is sitting in and on the acrylic stand under the tank.

i just hooked up a 2 bulb 175 watt metal halide retro fit kit in the hood of my reef tank.the ballast,or starter box,is leaving a terrible oder after it starts to warm up. has anyone ran into this problem and does it go away.? the ballast is from a company called energy savers.

i have l/r..l/s..green star polyps and 6 or so fish.i now use b-ionics #1 & #2 should i put in any other chemical. the polyps look like they are doing fine.

WOW . i put a small flounder in my tank yesterday....and let me tell ya, i sure hope no more of my blue legged crabs or any small inverts go accross the sand any more!!!! the first one didn't make it. talk to your crabs and let them know!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i'm not real sure ...but i think you may need about 4-7 watts of light per gal? someone correct me if i'm wrong

if you going to use it for decoration only u can.there probably isn't anything alive in it.i would soak it in a highly deluted bucket of hot water w/bleach for about 1/2 hour or so then rise real weel with fresh water before putting it in your tank.i've done this a number of times.

whats in your tank that keeps it so clean and how long has it been up and running? very nice!!!
