So what do you think contributed to my sps dying and lps closing up not to mention my hair algae bloom right after my first batch of the mixed IOs? I went right back to IO along with my dosing recipe and things are getting back to normal.

I had a mating pair... It is very obvious when it is happening and done very fast as well...watch to see if the female opens up on her bottom half in the next few days and starts "shaking out" eggs or larvae or whatever.... my fish would go crazy when my little female would do this..pretty cool

I've got some monti plate, monti cap, monti digi, all assorted colors in a 20 gal long with 30" current 130 watt pc fixture....keep an lps tank also 20 gal long under current 65 watt pc fixture...softies tank with mixed zoos, shrooms, lps and even some monti cap in 29 gal with 30" current 130...

I keep some sps under pc's and they do just fine...but my tank is shallower than an aquapod and i put out more watts than suggested... in my opinion the stock lighting on the aquapods are not strong enough to keep sps... i think they make a MH hood for the pods though if you wanna go that route

Just read a thread and found that blue light wave length encourages algae growth... been leaving the actinic on 3 hours before and after the daylight lamp.. I'm guessing this my problem?

So I've been noticing some hair algae starting to accumilate on some of the larger pieces of aragonite in my sand bed. Checked nitrates and they are about 15 ...which usually is what they are at...i haven't intruduced anything new to the tank in months. my question is can hair algae pop up...

It's only a 29 gallon tank so its kind of both salt210.. i mix the 4 and change roughly that bi weekly...there is a picture of it on page 23 of the nano reef tank club in the nano tank section flower.

I do test it before i put it in....calcium level is at a 360 or so and ph is almost 8.... i just started the thread to see if anyone had a "special" formula that has outstanding success...
