    Any thoughts on the best way to set up a QT tank? I have a 12 gallon cube that I was thinking about using... Would you use the sponge? live rock? sand? or just some pvc? Should I wait till my tank cycles and use that water?

    Do you have sump? I'm not really sure why you need a filter.... live rock, skimmer, hopfully good movement inside the tank should be all you need...

    ok...update time... I walked in the door today, looked at the tank and to my surprise.....diatoms on the rock and sand.... Tested the water and here is what I found.. Temp 79.7 Salinity 1.024 Ammonia .5ppm Nitrite 1ppm Nitrate 20 ppm any thoughts?

    take your water to your LFS and have them test it.. while you are there, buy a new Ammonia test kit... even a 0 ppm should come up yellow...
