from what i have heard, if you dont know the source of the rock (was the tank established and doing good, etc.) then i would cure it. if its from an established tank and u dont intend on curing it, try to keep it from freezing on your trip as this will help preserve anything inside it and on it...

could i simply make my own rocks and put them in the tank after a real good wash down? such as get some concrete mix or something similar and b4 it dries, add some air bubbles to it and poke holes thru to make it more like rock used for aquariums? wouldnt the algae start to grow on it as well?

yea write down what you want to stock and envision it in your mind then you will know which route to go, such as fish only or whatever. It is cheaper to start off with a fish only, but will cost you more in the long run for upgrades to coral, such as lighting, etc. Bigger the tank, the better as...

I read someone's post about acclimating some freshwater mollies into saltwater and it worked. Are there any other fish that can adapt like that?
