depends on how much sand u want in your filter... some sands will mix more with water then others.

yes and how many watts per gallons do u need? I have the same question - am using 4' regular flourescent 40w lights in a garage lighting setup. I am looking to upgrade, but dont know how many watts to use in my 75gallon tank. I dont want to buy too big a setup if it isnt needed..

i think the instant ocean dissolves faster then red sea. I dont know if there really is a difference in what the companies produce other then you dont want phosphates and nitrates, which most say they dont have on the bag.

a 75 gallon. the formula i heard for waterflow is that when u add all gph, from your filter, powerheads, and protein skimmer, and divide that by the gallon size of the tank (im my case 350 + 590 for the 2 maxi 1200's and i think it said 50 for the skimmer divided by 75), that should be around 15...

how much did said lighting system cost you overall? Just curious because I have a 75 as well..

what type of media is in your canister filters?

i already ordered 2 maxi 1200's.. That is lr thats in there now. im gonna get more. the ornaments will most likely become history when the tank is fully going.
