    How much sustrate?

yea i have a seaclone 100 here. I would really hate not using the cc as i have already had it set up but had to take down due to a dissintegrating tank! The sustrate was cycled for about a week, but that dont matter since it has been dried up, right? I could use the existing sustrate for...

    cycling my first saltwater tank

most people wouldnt suggest a salt water tank under 55 gallons, unless you really monitor your water readings! 10 Gallons of water can go bad REAL FAST! As opposed to 75 gallons, which will take 7.5 times longer to go bad! It is easy to crash a small system!

    Brand new to this...

the 75 gallon is so pricey because of the full hood you want for it! The stand, tank, and get one of those glass lid thingies that run about $40 compared to the estimated $170 for the full hood. With the glass, you can easily create your own lighting system! for way under the price of a full...

    How important is ro?

yea it came with a tank, and the whole bleach thing is what it says to do in the instructions for sanitizing it.. I dunno, but I thought I should follow the instructions for once haha. It also says I need to let it run for 10 minutes, turn off for 1 minute to let it build back up, then back on...

How do I get water into a tank?

I have a magnum 350 convertible canister filter, meaning it sits on the floor separate from the tank. It is VERY USEFUL for using it to pump water out of the tank, but you definately want to be careful as to the water you put INTO the tank. Use a r/o system if u have it, as i understand this is...

    How important is ro?

Exactly how important is ro? I know it is perferred that u use and ro system to filter your tap water.. So I went and bought me a 10 gallon per day unit. It is installed, and I am currently "sanitizing" it. The manufacturer recommends that you fill the prefilter to 1" below o-ring and add 4tbs...

never ever buy the GE - GXRM10G! Sure it is good to have ro water but get a set-up that you can get water from! This system does tell you how to install it, but then stops. I have spent an hour on the phone with customer service and they cant help yet. The brand new system has NO water in it at...

Going from Fish Only to Coral

I just got me a ro unit.. or reverse osmosis water filtration system. It removes many things from your water, city or well water! The one I got was $150 and is good for 10 gallons per day. This will be fine once I finally get the tank filled. 10 gallons per day makes for over 8 gallons of great...

    question ??

I am sure that your tap water holds alot more then what your tanks filtration system can remove. From an article I read, I believe that the dissolved metals in the water most likely will not get picked up by your filter media. It also does not evaporate with the water, so ends up becoming a...

    Reverse Osmosis setup

yes! all lines are hooked up! The opening on the disposer is for a 1" line, so I simply stuck my drain line into the hole and filled the gap with aquarium silicone to seal it up. Next up, letting that seal dry and continuing in the morning! Then I get to crank it up after installing the...

    Reverse Osmosis setup

ok. i think the disposer has a spot to hook up a drain line.. However this is an old disposer and the hookup is huge! nothing like the 3/8" that the R/O unit has coming out. Its an old building, so I am sure the disposer is rather old as well. Looks like it leaks just a hair. But anyways, I...
