    Grapelike growth

I have a growth of grapelike things in my tank. At first it was isolated to one little area but know it is growing throughout the reef. They are purple in color and squishy to the touch. Any ideas on what this is and how can I get rid of it?

    DIY liverock

This has been done before, however, they are a competitor to Saltwaterfish.com. I have bought cleaners from them but not their sculpted rock. The organization can be found on the web in Boise Idaho. They have a geothermal farm set up to propogate reefs. Enjoy. Ray

A refugium should help. I have been trouble with green hair algae in the past with minimal phosphates and nitrates. I "cleaner package" that I bought from this site worked wonders. Within a day, there was a noticable change in my tank. Good luck. Ray

    10 g tank lighting

I just purchased twin 18" 32W power compacts for my 10G. It may be a little overkill, but I can adjust the height above the water if it is too much.

    Rio 2500

I had a RIO2100 as my return do the same thing. Won't restart if you ever stop it. What I did was take it apart and cleaned everything with a wire brush. To get down in the drive chamber I used a Dremel Tool on the highest speed with a soft brush. I was able to knock off the chunks(I...

BurnN Spy -sallyann not reef safe?

I would agree that SWF things that traditionalists don't recommend for a reef. However, after ordering several packages over the past couple of years, the characters that necessarily aren't reef safe(Arrow Crabs and Sally's) serve a purpose in nature. What I have done is to use the "package"...

How do you get rid of flatworms

I battled flatworms for a number of months... The best solution is prevention as Burn prescribes... Once infected, I have tried the OTC chemicals which drastically increase your copper, stain your tubes and silicone, and are not a total solution. I have also tried a phsycadellic gobie and a...

    A few more rookie questions.......

I am at Fry road... The best for corals that I have found is TNT at Hwy 6 and Bellaire. The is a Houston Reefer meeting there around 7pm on July 2nd to discuss tips and tricks. There is another LFS at Westheimer and Synott tucked away in a stripmall. Better for fish than corals. Later

    A few more rookie questions.......

Ich is a parasite that attacks fish...it looks like grains of salt imbedded in the fins and side of the fish. Rather unsitely. Good luck with the new set up. What part of Houston? I know a couple of good LFS's. Thanks. Ray
