i saw the live rock from tampa, i was wondering with all that life wouldent you need good lighting to keep it alive. im going with a fowlr trying to decide on lr. tampa looks the best. but with just no. flouresent lights, for now, would the nice colors just die off.

you have a point there. maybe i will put it in my half bath nobody uses it any way. that way i can keep the exaust fan on. i have a emperor 400 can i run carbon in there. i dont know much about carbon.

i just found it at kroger for 40 cents, the 5 gallon contaners were 12$ full. if you have an area with alot of well water (country) thats were to look.

i asked the same question, i was told silica sand will work just not as good as aragonite. put aragonite or live sand or both on top. so im going with 3in. silica 1in. aragonite on top. with live rock. in time the sand should become live from the rock.

ive been reading this forum for about a month now. i think im ready to start buying equipment. im going with the emperor 400 filter, a bakpak 2 protien skimmer, 2 maxijet 1200 powerheads, 4in. dsb, 80 pounds silica sand 20 pounds argonite, no southdown around. 50 pounds fiji live rock pre cured...
