Hey Pufferlover, How quickly will a small dogface or porcupine grow? I was thinking of converting a 29 gallon fresh into a f/o salt? Would either of these outgrow this too quickly?

UPDATE - I took the Fluval off, added an additional five lbs. of live rock and did another water change. Bought another test kit, tested with both. Nitrates at about 80. Down from 100 and above. Corals looking better. I'll keep with the water changes. Thanks for the advice, [ May 17, 2001...

I took the Fluval off, added five more lbs. of live rock and did yet another water change. The inhabitants are looking better, but the nitrates are still above 80.

I've used it in my freshwater and brackish tanks. Its taken care of various problems, especially in my cichlid tank. I would be a little hesitant to try it in my marine tank. HTH,

I've read and heard both. I have one in my tank and so far, so good. But I'll tell ya, the first nip and he's GONE! :D :p :D :p

I didn't have any problems with my Fluval 404 either until recently. I hit the 9 month mark and my nitrates went through the roof! BEWARE!!! I finally took it off and added some more live rock. The tank is already looking better. I'll check the nitrates tonight. Good luck, :D

Thank you one and all for your thoughts. I have toyed with the idea of removing the Fluval, but I must admit, it makes me a little nervous. I've been in freshwater so long(over a score), a tank without a filter makes me shake. However, I do understand the biological process and it makes sense...

My corals love squid. Try mixing a little of that in too. :D
