No sure if its the water and more of a bacterial infection. I dose all foods I feed with a variety of things: selcon, zoecon, vitachem, garlic, ... I checked the params and ammonia, trates and trites are 0. Ca = 520, alk = 11, temp = 80. Not sure about phosphates.

Why do I have to add more alkalinity to my tank than anything else? It is always thing to drop so I have to add it every 2 days. The magnesium and calcium levels tend to stay stable. Anyone know?

You learn after staying in the hobby who you can trust. I know a place that has a lot of complete tank deaths yet the guy running it has to stock it back up because it's his job to. He tells me not to buy out of those tanks.
