    why no growth on corals?

What flower said about water quality is right on. I have 15 fish in my 140g tank and feed heavily and all my soft corals grow like crazy. If I had sps they would never survive. Even LPS doesn't like it too much. You kind of have to chose what you like and what you want to grow. I like alot of...

yellow tang vs blue hippo tang

Had a sailfin for 3 years and added a small hippo. No problems. Year later added Naso. No problems. All three have been together about 2 years now and are fine. Should not be a problem. If you were adding another yellow or sailfin maybe but different shape tang no sweat.

Looking to see how many People have a top or topless tank!!!

No top for 3 years and no problems until last month when I lost my 4 year old snowflake eel and my little perc. Still not using top though. If I get time might make spanko's lid. Used light diffuser for a couple years but decided it made my tank look dark.

Anyone have experiance with these fish

The only experience I have is diving with a 20" puddingwife wrasse in cozumel that was feasting on brittle stars, big crabs, huge bristleworms and whatever else happen to be under the rocks I was flipping over on the bottom of the sea. Huge fish that would be extremly destructive in a aquarium...

    Florida Ricordea

Rics are weird. They are bulletproof as far as killing them but to get them to duplicate is tricky. I have had mine for 5 years and has added only one polyp in that time and that was right in the beginning. 2 things I have noticed about them is 1 -they like to be fed alot. In the beginning I fed...

what lights are good for a FOWLR

remember whatever you get your algae growth will increase along with it and in a fowlr it can get pretty messy. I think your t8 light would be fine just add a couple more bulbs and you would be right there. Mix 10k with blue ones and your good to go.

    Algae breakout from lights?

If you added the antibiotic and it is coming back then it must be diatoms which usually will go away on its own after awhile but it can take some time. If it was cyano it would not have lasted the antibiotic. I have done it quite a few times over six years and it never survives the blast. Give...

    Algae breakout from lights?

Can't tell totally from the pic. It looks like cyano because I see some bubbles attached to it which cyano usually has but sometimes diatoms can have that too. Whatever it is it looks like it is on its way in or on its way out. Is this after you dosed it with the slime remover?

    Algae breakout from lights?

The reason your getting 0 readings is the cyano is chewing the stuff up. Its really good at that. So is hair algae which is why i grow massive amounts in my sump so I can feed the hell out of my fish with no problems. Yeah I would go full dose with that stuff because it is meant to target cyano...

    ifirefights 130 REEF VIDEO !!!!

Nice reef. Looks real healthy. Did those purple mushrooms spead on their own or did you put them there? Also how many fish do you have. I only saw 4 in the video but I am sure there are more hiding.

    Algae breakout from lights?

never tried that but my guess is it is some type of antibiotic. Check the ingredients but that is probably what it is.

    Lets See those Reefs!

nice tank bullitr. big and heavily stocked up just the way I like them. JUst wondering about your lunar wrasse in there. How big is he and is he destructive as hell? How do you manage to keep shrimp in there with him? I have a 7" one that has been in my tank for 3 years and he is terrible...

    Algae breakout from lights?

Yeah its cyano. It is half algae half bacteria. 9 times out of 10 when you replace your lights you get this. I use eurythromyacin to get rid of it. Can get it any pet store. Turn off your skimmer, take out any carbon, and use half the recommended dose and after 48 hours do a water change, turn...

What's the name of my new fish?

I have one that is 4 years old. Cool fish. Hardy as all get out, not real aggressive but not docile either. LOVE them some bristle worms. Mine was swimming around the other day with a 2" bristle worm in his mouth and he is only 3" long himself.

    Why no more Coraline?

Probably something to do with this imbalance. Once it fades it takes a minute for it to come back. With your levels where they are it should come back shortly. Run your actinics longer as corraline seems to really like this light. I ran my actinics only for about a week a couple years ago to...
