I have the 28 gal HQI tank tried it without the chiller. In the end I had to buy a chiller, I bought the artica chiller and it works great. With out it the tank was hitting upwards of 98 degrees. With it it maintains a nice 78 degrees.

I had one in a saltwater tank for over 2 years, but from my understanding they are brackish and "go both ways" so to speak. I've seen them kept in fresh water and salt water. I also bought mine from the evil empire Wally World and slowly acclimated him to saltwater, then he was in my tank...

This is the same set-up I have, you won't be disappointed!

That clam is from a tank I had about 2 years ago. I had to move so I gave the clam to a friend and it is doing well. When I had it all I did was add DT's and Marine Snow. I would switch between the two, but not on any schedule. I also had MHs for lights. That is indeed a neat clam
