I can't imagine why anyone would put "whole house" RO system in just to flush it or wash clothes or cars with it.It would be awfully expensive and would need a pretty big holding/pressure tank to be effective. A whole house filter system with water softeners, sediment and carbon etc filters...

5% water changes is about 4 and half gallons for a 90 gallon tank. Try one or two large water changes to get nitrate levels down. Then go back to a weekly maintenance to maintain levels. Quit adding algone or whatever that is. Figure out what is causing the high nitrate levels. ie: overfeeding...

I've moved a 125gal twice now. Its not too bad. I replaced the sand . When you remove it from the existing tank, the stuff that comes out looks/smells pretty bad and I couldn't bring myself to put it back in.

If i'm online it means its "2 cold 2 fish" !!

Can you buy a duplicate of what you have and put one on each side? two 36" units =72"

I'm thinking the maintenance won't change very much, maybe even increase a little. The cost of maintenance may be lower due to less salt and cheaper light bulbs, but it sounds like time your trying to save and in my humble opinion it wont save much.

If I learned anything on here its "if your calcium is high your alk is probably low. 540 ca. wont kill em.

Elevate the sump higher than the fuge instead take pump out of sump and put the bulk heads here on the outside wall. the will flow into the fuge put the pump in the far compartment of the fuge no new lines overflows or nothing. flow will very very close to current

1. I think it depends on how much LR you need. If your adding a top layer of deco then its nice to get pieces you can pick, but if your just starting a large tank, online is the way to go. 2. If you like your LFS Rock, then ask him where he got it, and order from there and cure it yourself...
