    aiptasia anemone

I would like to see a pic of the inside before I pass judgement, but it looks just like some of my brown polyps, and not aptasia. The "tentacles" are not long enough.

    Good corals for low light

I have another option for you that alot of people don't think about. Sponges! They can add quita a bit of color to a tank with very little care. (Most anyways.) Of course do your research, but it sure is an inexpensive way to add color!

    porupine puffer info/help?

Just wanted to add my 2 cents in here. I had a puffer for 6 years and my boyfriend had one for 5 years before I got mine. We kept it in a 75. I must say this was the hardiest fish I have ever had. Yes, they have a few extra needs with food, but their personality far out weighs the extra effort...

    Alkalinity

First, with the new board format, has anyone had problems doing a search? I did a search for "alk" and got 3 hits, which were all today. Did me loose all the old stuff? Anyhow, someone had posted a great thread a while back on water chemistry, and that is what I was looking for. What is...

Debut to the world: ID Please Ophiura?

Wax, Like I said in my first post- I had been seeing this one's legs for 2 years. The only reason I saw him and got a pic is because I was transferring tanks. If I hadn't been doing that, it would have probably been another 2 years before I saw him!

Debut to the world: ID Please Ophiura?

Ophiura, I am sure my other star is a serpent, and this is a brittle. The Ophionereis reticulata's arms look spiney, while the serpent looks smooth. Here is a pic of my other. (sorry... was having camera problems at the time) I am sure they are not related...:D If there is no biological...

Debut to the world: ID Please Ophiura?

Oh Yeah, I forgot to ask... Can stars "dig"? I mean, he had been under the same rock for probably 6 months. Could he have gotten out on his own, or was he possibly stuck? I just can't believe all I ever saw was the tips of his arms. Thanks again!

Debut to the world: ID Please Ophiura?

Thanks Ophiura!! I have no idea where my rock came from, but thats it exactly! I thought it was a brittle. I guess that answers the question about my serpent being a mom. I am going to look it up now. :jumping:

Debut to the world: ID Please Ophiura?

Well, after 2 or 3 years of just seeing his legs, I was bound to see him while transferring my tank. He is really cool! I swear there is a star pattern on his disk (which is about the size of a dime). I would think it was a serpent of some sort, but I wonder because the "things" on his arms look...

    Can anyone settle this argument??

    Skimmer AND Filter needed?

The only reason I can see is to filter out large particles of waste and what not that might be floating around in the water. I have a small one and use a "Bio-Bag" to filter out particles and occasionally run some carbon. How long have you had the tank? Is it well established? Do you have LR...

    jebo/odyssea lights

I think mine are the 2004 models. I will actually have 2 48" fixtures. I am hoping that will be enough light for now because thats about all I can afford for now... Does your have the "heat retaining bands" on it?
