    pink tip isn't very pink

Overall, I am pleased with the look. The yellows, greens and reds really pop out. If anything it might be just a bit too purple...might swap out the purple + for something else next time. I took before pics and tried to take some after pics today. The colors seem to be playing games with my...

    pink tip isn't very pink

Ordered new lights Monday and they showed up today. Wow, what a difference. I didn't notice how dull the old bulbs had gotten until I put in the new ones. Went pretty close to Spanko's first suggestion... ATI Blue + ATI True Actinic Fuji Purple ATI Blue + ATI Aquablue Special Giesemann Pure Actinic

    pink tip isn't very pink

Was looking for these bulbs and could not find the ATI Procolor in 48" for the life of me. Dug a little deeper and found a thread on an unnamed forum that said they were discontinued and replaced with Purple +.

    pink tip isn't very pink

I kinda suspected the bulbs were not the greatest, but wasn't really sure. The LFS's only sell these 2 brands. I'll have to check online for some better bulbs. Merry xmas to my fish tank :)

I changed the bulbs out in pairs. The oldest set being around 10 mo, newest is around 7. I guess, its about time for a change, yes?

    pink tip isn't very pink

I received a pink tip bta about 2 months ago and it has never looked very pink. I am thinking that either i was sent a regular bta or it is not getting enough light since it is hiding under a cliff. I have 324w of T5 on a 55g tank. What do you all think?

    green bubble tip anemone help

I have placed it in a small tuperware container with a partial lid and put a piece of screen on top of the tank to block some light. I will see how this works out, I don't think it can make it much longer without some kind of help.

    green bubble tip anemone help

Not trying to hijack your thread, but I have had the same problem for months. I have had my GTBA for about 6 months and it has always been under a cliff where it doesn't get any light. It was about 4" and healthy when I got it, but now it is only about 1.5" and completely bleached. I have...

    painting HOB skimmer

The skimmer is visible at all times, it hangs on the back. I am currently battling a couple different algae issues. I am not really concerned about the aesthetics as much as trying to rid my system of this nasty brown algae. I can scrape it out of the skimmer, but it comes back pretty quickly. I...

    painting HOB skimmer

My HOB skimmer has accumulated a little bit of algae on the top 4" or so where it is exposed to the lights. I was thinking about painting 3 sides with black paint to block the light. As long as I tape off all of the openings, does anyone think this would be a bad idea?

think I figured out my algae problem!

So I have had this horrible brown stringy algae in my tank for about a month or so. My trates stay a steady 0 and phosphates very near 0 (hard to tell on my API test). Nothing has changed recently in my tank and I have been stumped. Last night I think it finally hit me. I received one of those...

    Anenome concern

Give it some time, it should be fine. They will roam around until they find a place they like. If you just got it a couple days ago it is most likely still adjusting to your tank. It may have had less lighting in the tank where it came from.
