Are you upgrading to a larger tank and moving your existing livestock over? Yes I am upgrading and moving. Should I start with fresh sand and seed it from the old tank? My old sand bed is about 3 years old.

On my 75g tank I have my Actinic's cut on about an hour before the daylight ones and stay on an hour later after the dyalights cut off. Not sure if it makes any difference, it was what was suggested when I setup the tank.

I am migrating from my 75g tank. Should I take some sand and live rock from it for the cycling? Of course I will use plain water to check for leaks and such, but then I want to start getting the tank ready with saltwater.

Do you have to have the lighting in place and working before cycling a new tank? I would like to go ahead and set up and test the plumbing on the new tank but was not sure.

Could I get by with the Outer Orbit fixture with 3x150 MH's? Looking at the amp draw I don't want to add an electrician into the budget to upgrade the circuit.

Has anybody used the MH lamps that hang-on the tank? Coralife has one called the Aqualight Advance Series HQI Hang-on Tank Mount. Just wondering if it's any good and if the mount holds well.

Thanks to everyone for the feedback. I plan on keeping fish, some corals and anemones. I have read up about lighting on the boards today, seems like I should just start with the MH's. Is there a particular brand I should look at or stay away from? Is Coralife or Current any good?

I agree, 1-2lbs per gallon. I have a 75g and started with about 80lbs. I have added over time and now have about 110lbs.

Any problem with putting a 125g tank (glass) on top of carpet & padding? I did a search and could not really find much other than people using carpet for leveling. I want to put this in my basement but where I want to put it there is carpet. Thanks for any infomation.
