That all seems to be fine. I was just curious if you had a PH spike at sometime during the late photoperiod. The cause of Calcium carbonate precipitation is nearly always a spike in some parameter: Calcium, Carbonate, Temperature, or PH. I cannot figure out why you have CaCO3 clumps in your sandbed.

Lubeck, have you gotten the gutter guard yet? I was going to put egg crate over the holes b/w the weir and the external box but when I went to HD a few weeks ago I realized that my snails (even my astrea's) are too small for egg crate to work. Also, are you happy with your tang experience so far? Was thinking of placing an order on monday.

Bang here is a snap shot of my parameter. The red is the temp and white line is the ph. Cory I'm going to need to look up calcite minerals. Never heard of them. Going to be taking some tests today to see where my alk and cal lie. I haven't noticed any additional clumps or cloudy water since I changed my dosing times.

Eric I do have the gutter guard up. I think it works for most snails. The difficulty I have is securing it to the weir Let me. Know how you do it.

I took some pics of my fuge. My mangrove roots are really starting to take shape. It will prob take another month at least before it reaches the sand bed. I haven't decided if I'm going to let them grow in the sand bed or put them in some kind of container? Any suggestions?

Looks great! Personal preference for them to grow in sand or a container, I prefer the sand that is already there...

I'm going to start looking for a calcium reactor for the tank. I'm looking at GEO but not sure what size? What would be a good alternative brand too?

You have to be careful with letting them burrow into rhe substrate. They have been known to crack the bottoms of tanks if they are to thin.
As far as reactors I don't think you can do much better than Geo....I'd shoot him an email and ask his opinion. You'll see him on RC as well. RO would be my next choice as far as money but if it were me purchasing my top 2 picks would be Geo and MRC. I had a dual chamber MRC and sold it of.

I picked up four lyretail anthias over the weekend They are doing well but the one female s already claiming dominance over the other two. Pretty fish.

My stock list is heavy and I'm just about done. This is what I have so far
2 black ocellaris clowns
1 six line wrasse
1 yellow tang
1 powdered blue tang
1 mandarin goby (whoops, lil early but making sure I shake the cheato from the fuge)
4 lyretail anthias 3 female one male
I'm pretty much done with fish. If I get any more it will be small guys like coral gobies or maybe a school of blue reef chromis. The best part is my wife said "you need corals now". I couldn't have said it better.
You wouldn't believe how much my fuge has grown in just the few days since the picture above. It has exploded with life and my cheato which I thought was going to die off is coming back strong. It's no surprise really since I'm feeding over three times per day. I'm testing my limits of the fuge and skimmer and I'm very pleased its keeping up. I'm pulling a full collection cup per 6 days of skimming which I believe is close to a gallon.

That looks nice and there has been noticeable growth over the week and a half period. What is the reflective material on the back wall?

It's an extra piece of insulation I had leftover. I need something to help reduce the light spill over since the back of the tank is open.

The tank has been doing well. The corals continue to color up however a couple are not liking their placement and have started to go pale but still have rear polyp extension Not sure if its too much light or not enough ?
I've had a hell of time keeping my alk in check or up to where I want it to be. It's been hovering at 6.8 for weeks. All my rocks are growing coralline like crazy now and my corals continue to have great growth. I've been going through about 180 ml per day of alk and 150 ml of calcium
Some troubling news that I thought I got rid of from last tank I noticed a vampire snail on my clam the other day. Bummer

I need some help my blue acro. It has huge growth but has lost most of its blue color expect for the tips. All the new growth has great bright blue tips. The deep blue has turned to more of a brown color all over except for the tips. Currently it is sitting high in the tank and straddling between my two kessils but not directly under any of them.
So is it not enough light? Or not enough food? Don't think it's too much light because its brown. The thing is growing like a weed though.
