Hey Bob do you have a pic of the CL intakes? I've never had any issues with fish getting sucked to rhe intakes....

Bob I find it rather odd that either fish got that close to the intake to get sucked inward.....I might suspect something else. Have you put your hand close to it while it's running and see how strong the pull actually is......

Shawn I have and it is very strong. I actually saw the regal tang swim buy and get sucked up out of the corner of my eye the other night I feel that the clowns and the six line know to stay away from it. The regal is still very young and was less than 24 hours in the tank when it got sucked in.

My regal was sucked up today and died by closed loop. I ended going and getting a traditional cone strainer and put it on tonight. I could certainly tell the difference when putting my hand up. It's a lot less suction. I should be good now but it sucks a $60 fish got sucked up. So frustrating.

Sorry about that Bob. Have you looked at the strainers EcoAquatic carries? Cone shaped by not as intrusive as the traditional ones.

At first I thought you had a tiny regal but if its the same regal that's in post 380 it looks like it was a decent size.
Sorry about losing some of your fish in the intake. Hope the new strainer helps.

Yeah it was about 3". On a good note, About half of my corals are already showing new growth. As far as color goes still too early to tell but it looks promising for only being in the tank for two weeks. If anyone was following my old thread I had lost most of the color in all of my sps I will need to take some pics soon to show the changes as the tank ages.

The tank has been going thru the motions. I've seen some algae blooms but my cuc has made quick work on it. I have officially brought bryopsi over from my old tank. Fortunately my emerald crabs have eaten 80% of it and doing a stellar job keeping it at bay.
Other notes to mention. I noticed my clam is loosing all of the coralline algae from its shell. That's a bummer but the good news is my corals colors have made a huge come back and would say if they were rated 2 out of 10 before I would say they are 5 out of 10 now. Also, I purchased a blue acro over a week ago and the color is sustaining. I've spent $100s in my small tank in any blue acro and they never made it past a few days with color. This is a good step so far but a lil too early to tell. Anyway here are some pics.

Some bryopsi on my zoa. By tomorrow it will be gone. I saw the emerald found it tonight.

Looks good Lubeck. All the corals look healthy and colored up nice. The new strainer is doing a good job, yes?

Man the color is really coming back on a lot of the SPS corals in the new tank. Everything is looking good.
That stinks about the fish getting sucked up in the CL intake. Sounds like the strainer will fix that.

I'm a little embarrassed to say but I got it online from a store I'd never buy livestock from but I've read good reviews and they have a 14 day guarantee. P&$Co We will see.

I just checked their website and their prices are pretty good. Their fish vendor is the same that many online stores get their livestock from. I think the biggest problem with their in-store livestock is that the fish are not properly cared for by the employees simply because the employees themselves don't receive proper training. The same could be said for places like Petl@nd. I'm really interested to see what you think of the condition of the fish when they arrive. I wouldn't be entirely surprised if everything looked good.

I need some help keeping my fish and cuc going over my weir on my coast to coast. What will work but not restrict or look ugly?
