That blows about the skimmer. Nothing is worse than spending a ton of money on good equipment and not having it work correctly. Hopefully you can figure out something.
The tank is looking good though!! I love the rock work. Lots of caves and lots of ledges to put corals. Cycle baby cycle!!

Not really. I'm being told its the break in phase, not entirely sure but will just have to trust so. My issues now are micro bubbles but they are all coming from the skimmer. I ended up turning the return pump down 10% to help the bubbles pop. I'm going to hook up the reactor plumbing tomorrow. Prob take some initial tests. I have a silverside floating around in there so hopefully that will kick start the cycle.
Also need to figure out my mounting for my lights. I really want to get a radion or Mitras but prob will just stick with getting the new controllable kessils

like clean coralline off of acrylic? I've always used an old credit card in customers tanks. Never left a scratch on it - to my knowledge.

Yup. I have about 3" to spare. Once I drill holes in the two returns I will have ample room for back flow. Without the hole its siphoning about 4" from the display tank.Onee of the first things I checked when putting water in it. You kinda take a gamble when sizing your baffles. You never know until you unplug your pumps. (Even there are math equations)

Bob it looks good!!!!! The skimmer doesn't look bad....I think from the pic it's more a break in issue.......Your correct on the back siphon issue....It is a gamble at times....How high did you make your baffles....I don't remember off the top of my head.

14" are the baffle heights. I got a lot done on the tank today. I took down one of my kessils from my 30 gal just to see what kind of spread I would get. I'm pleased but I will need at least 1 more if not two. They are much brighter than the t5s on there now. No pics though.
I installed my water change lines from my manifold to my washing machine drain. I also started the plumping for my two reactors. But haven't glued anything yet. I also started working on my water change vessels adding bulkheads and valves to each but still have a lot to do with those. I will be doing gravity fed for fresh saltwater I would like to get the water changing station done tomorrow. My other goal tomorrow is starting to tear down my apex and setting it up on the new tank.
Sorry no pics of everything. I will take a few tomorrow.

Sounds super Bob.....Anxious to see some pics....I like the new Kessil 360W. Probably 1 of my favorite units on the market presently. Of course the Mitras, but considering price between the 2....I'm pretty positive the Kessil can be hooked through the Apex as well.....
I had my baffles set high as well, and cut them down more for the skimmer than back siphon room in the sump......I can't wait to get working on the system.

Great News! I woke up this morning and my skimmer is officially broken in. I have lots of foam. Now I need to go in and read on how to fine tune it. This has made my day.

Breaking all the rules.....................
Well most of you are not going to like this and really I don't either but I ended putting more than half of my corals into the new tank without it finishing its cycle. To top it off. I don't even have a test kit for ammonia and trites because they expired. So once everyone calms down I needed lt let everyone know or I wouldn't have been able to post any pictures. Lol.
So the reason for the move so soon is because I sold my 33 gal to someone and they are picking it up this weekend It's nice because he bought the setup. So I started yesterday putting corals in and put my giant Monti cap in today. So far so good but I know I will prob loose a few However I have really let my 33 gal go since I've been working on the 180 gal system.
I did get a lot done tonight. I moved my entire apex system over to the new tank and everything is all set and running. Before doing that I installed a gcfi outlet for the tank. It's the same one I bought for the 33 gal but never installed it. I also did a half ass job of rigging my lights. I need to build something for them but not sure what. Any thoughts?
Good new is I'm going to buy the kessil 360w for the new tank since I sold my old one.

You were not lying about doing the lights half a$$.
BUT... It works for the time being. Those suckers are bright as all get out, even at 50%.
Did you add any LR or is it all dry base?? I hope all the corals make it.
I like the way you mounted all the Apex stuff to the wall. Nice and clean!! The whole system is looking very PRO.
