I kinda had a thought for those things.
Pipe in the water from the bottom.
Have a tube running up the center with holes covered by screen to let water pass, but not sand.
Put a cap at the top to force pressure to make the water "flow" into the sand.
You could have a return drain funnel it back into your sump once it reaches the top.
This would force the water evenly throughout the system.
Should increase its productivity.
And your frag tank, how is it coming along?

That would totally defeat the purpose of a RDSB. You do not want to disturb the sand at all and keep it completely dark.
The frag tank is up running great. Heading out to the LFS now to pick up a tile saw for fragging and of course a couple new goodies.

that settles that.
I am trying to figure out what the garbage bin is that's next to your frag tank. It looks like its hooked to the canisters on the side panel. I looked for a description of those parts. What were they for?

That is my mixing container for water changes. My ro/di fills it with a float valve. It is plumbed into my sump. I just open a valve to add to sump. My sump is also plumbed to my floor drain, so I just open a valve to empty water from sump.

Ok I know we all love picks from the LFS. It is a blessing and a curse to have such an awesome LFS (Tropicorium) so close.
I picked up an inland diamond blade saw for fragging. I also put together a little frag station.

Next is the wet goods. Some new zoa frags (King midas gold, RPE, Lunar eclipse, Aussie delights, purple paly) I also picked up a Salicornia plant to experiment with.

Lots of room left. It will be fun filling this.

You have this set up so good. You are a master plumber

I know I won't make any real money. It is just a good way to help cover the cost of running it and can trade for new pieces.

Beautiful tank! I am jealous of the inwall look. I have a shallow tank and might just use the idea.

Awesome tank. What kind of microalgea are u growing? Also how can you trust those 3 triggers in that tank without getting nervous with them eating your corals???
Triggers are suppose to be very aggrssive in that tank..

I only have the 2. The Sargassum didn't make it.
There are some triggers that are more docile and better suited for reefs. The most reef safe are, Blue jaw, Sargassum, Cross hatch. Pink tails and Nigers are also housed often in reefs. Most triggers if not reef safe are because they are more likely to eat your cleanup crew and maybe small fish but they leave corals alone. I have noticed my Pinktail will take it out on a snail or 2 if I skip his feeding for the day. I will probably switch him out some day when I find a nice male Crosshatch.

How is your algae station coming along? Wait, is it algae or chaeto? How often do you have to trim it? Looked a little small, or is it a good size for your tank?

My Macros don't really grow all that fast. That just means my skimmer does a good job of keeping up. I really never register any trates or phos. It is plenty big enough even if it did grow fast. The basket is like 2'x2'.
