Just a pic of a new fish I picked up. I was thinking this would be good time to see how he is in a reef. If he is problems I will just sell him when I breakdown the tank. I just couldn't pass this beautiful fish up.

I love seeing everything so clean - because you know a few months after having creatures in it you will have algae on your eggcrate, coraline algae on your glass, stuff on your sandbed. I mean its all good stuff, its just nice seeing the system 'clean' at startup.

Thats a very large tank, I just realized you are not using a wavemaker, is it in the plan or are you not using one? Just most big tanks I have seen have one or are cycling PHs to do it. I went back through just to drewl a little and noticed the above.

Nope. No plans to use any kind of wave maker. I also don't plan to control any powerheads. Right now I have about 50x turnover in the display.

Here are some pics of some new goodies I have been picking up for the new tank. Most of the stuff in the pics are new except the tri-color, mille, and yellow acro. I have had these for a while.

I must say it seems harder this time watching an empty tank then the first time. After the cycle is complete I will probaly wait an extra week or 2 then transfer a fish or 2 each week until all are in. This will also give the tank more time to become a little more stable.

Just an update. It has been cycling for almost 4 weeks. I am getting the diatom bloom as expected. The ammonia is 0 and the trites are 0 or real close. I will probaly give it another week or 2 then start moving over some of my hardier fish first. I also got my ozone hooked up. On to the pics. The vho's are only on in the pics.
