i think a blue one would make them stand out more
I think rotary said it best: "blue is too sterile"
I don't know where I read that, maybe DeMartini's thread, but I agree. Not a fan of the blue, on tanks anyway. Plus I already have black Krylon.
chevy: I hope it works out. A 125 would rock!

Hey i just talked to the guy today, he was spanish speaking so i couldnt understand his accent, but he is going to reply to my email, and send me pics. He said that the tank is leaking alittle from the right side, and that it needs re siliconed? How hard is this to do? Is the tank still worth $150. I think i will offer him $100 and reglue it. I also need to figure out if its tempered. I will keep you updated

Here are the pictures after taking down the back wall:
FTS:

Left Side:

Right Side:

And my clown was posing (he kept moving so the pics are blurry)

The watchman seems to like the new rock pile

Oh and after taking these and uploading them I realized my son left his "creative touch" on the photos. His fingerprint covered the lower half of the lens.

$150 for that tank is a steal, even if you have to re-silicone. I've never done it but I don't think it is hard. Just remove the old and apply the new.
I'd double check with your LFS and LHD (local home depot lol) to see what you need and how you can do it.
Oh and generally the front, back and sides aren't tempered. And if you're not sure about the bottom, don't risk it. Assume it is tempered.

Ya me too, but I'm looking forward to re-doing the rock work. I'm going to try and do two towers/islands.
Diary update: I finished cutting and siliconing the acrylic for the sump. I took pictures but our dog is graduating today so I can't upload them.
To cut costs and use less acrylic I made two different sections. One for the drainage and one for the return pump. The drain section is big enough to hold the ASM G-mini that I want to get in the future.
One design problem I ran into is a way to drain the water in the drain area (if that makes sense). I drilled three rows of 3/16" holes 4" from the bottom (about 45 holes in total). Will this be enough for flow or should I make slots?
When I get pictures up it'll make more sense but any input is appreciated.

How much did all the acrylic cost to do the sump? was it hard to do or pretty easy?

Less than $20. It was a 24x18 sheet of 1/4" thick.
It is pretty easy to work with, especially if you have a dremel.
Pics coming soon of the sump.

The right is where the tank drain goes and the left is for the return pump.

These are the holes I was talking about. After thinking about it at work I don't think they are going to work. I'll cut slots instead.

Here is the return. Dimensions are 6x6 I think, plenty of room for my Catalina 2200. It is 10" tall then the teeth are 2" long, so the fuge area should have 8" of water at all times.

I really hope this works. I'll post pictures on Wednesday when I drill the tank and keep you guys updated of new changes.

I just drilled my tank. I'm pretty stoked.
So today was project day for the tank. I moved the rock, fish, corals into buckets with tank water. Then I drained the tank and began drilling. Drilling is a lot easier than I thought btw.
Then I painted the back black. It looks really good. I added water and salt and now I'm just waiting for the sand to clear, then I'll add fish!
Pics will come later.

Emptying the tank

The temporary homes. Fish and corals on the left, rocks on the right.

Just drilled the hole. Super easy.

Preping the back to paint it. Second pic is the first coat I think.

And now it's time for water again!

Funny story: So i took all the rocks out first to make catching the fish easier. Once all the rocks were out I did a quick head count and one fish was missing!
It was the six line of coarse. I didn't panic, I just finished catching all the others. After things settled a little I look in the rock bucket and there is the six line poking his head out. It made me laugh.
So now I'm just waiting for the sediment to clear. It looks like it won't be til tomorrow
but the fish will be fine over night.

So the water is just saturated with dust. The filters didn't put a dent in the clarity.
Do you think a water change would be the best route or is there something else I can do?
