A bit of an update.....got a good bit accomplished through all the chaos around here.....I got the floor of the fishroom etched and the bottom of the walls taped off getting ready for the floor to be epoxied........

I waited 48hrs just due to no solid time to get the epoxy down on the floor, but it gave the floor a good chance to dry, but will be out of the fishroom for a couple more days to let the epoxy set up. Hopefully this weekend I will get back in and do a couple areas of drywall work and paint I need to finish. Here is a couple pics of the epoxy applied to the floor. I'm considering applying a gloss seal coat over top of the epoxy. What's your take on a clear coat over the epoxy?????
Still need to get the threshold for the door area as well.

Clear coat

would help make it easier to clean and protect whatever it was you spread out on the floor...plastic chips maybe? I can't tell but it looks good.
Don't forget to get something compatible with the epoxy...but I'm sure you know that.

Yeah I used the chips that came with the kit.....They actually make a clear coat just for the product, I just wasn't sure if I wanted to or not.......It just means a little more time out of the fishroom and more drying time. I guess the drying time would give me more time to think, an get myself into trouble.
I really haven't figured out how I want to incorporate the rounded corner, cabinet door into the scheme of things.....I had posted a pic over on your thread Corey, and that is kinda my model, but you just typically always see "squared" of corners and trim work, and just trying to push the limits here.........I promised my wife, this would be the last
I started building a "crude" jig for the radius bend for the project, and have been pleased so far with the bend I've gotten. I've only been working with 1/4" stock and thought of laminating pieces to get my total thickness. I am trying to avoid using straight up 3/4" stock and cutting kerfs and gluing on the back side. I might try soaking 3/4" stock for a couple days and put it into the jig and slowly form it while keeping it wet.....Honestly no idea if it will work this way or not. I do know it can be done with steam, but that would require 4" PVC pipe and a steam source and to make a steamer......

Some quick pics of the progress on the skin for the side of the stand. The hard part is basically out of the way at this point. Still have to figure out how to incorporate my rounded corner and start to lay out the molding/trim.
The skin of the stand is being built this way and not directly attached to the stand itself, for the mere fact that if I ever need to get something in or out from underneath the stand it will be wide open, and as the build progresses you'll see it will be a chore to get the tank up onto the stand itself. I hate having to move anything of any size and weight and have to slide it across a nice finish.......To me that is just asking for big mishap and heartache, some I'm planning ahead. Haven't totally decided if I'm going to use adjustable ball catches to tie everything together or use something on the line of hitch pins in certain spots to pull things apart.......

Well where my RO/DI is mounted on the wall and where I'm proposing to put my work/stand (for QT and frag setup) I plan to use it as a backsplash. Not that I'm overly concerned about the drywall and paint, but it makes it alot easier with the FRP board behind things, that way you can just wipe it down.
I have some left over standard white FRP board, and I've had quite a bit of experience painting plastic, but rather curious how well the Krylon Fushion paint would hold up on the FRP board??? Not that the backsplash would be wiped down everyday or anything.

A little bit of progress today.....Have the side skin in place on the side of the stand, so I can begin to mock up the molding and corner pieces of the stand. The ends I'm pretty definite on, but the front corner facing out into the room still working on the design, still trying to incorporate my rounded bent egdes......A quick pic of the mock up

Earlier I had talked about glassing the inside of the tank and overflow with biaxial fiberglass. Here's a quick peek of the biaxial fiberglass. As time gets closer hopefully I will take better pics.

Earlier today I was inquiring about black FRP board. I have found 1 source for it, but searching out others pricing it out......Here is a quick shot of the wall in the fishroom, where I'm wanting to install the black FRP board as a backsplash. The area would be under the RO/DI unit and to the left about 6', about 18" wide.......Pic will also so the progress so far on the drywall work...

And a couple quick pics shot around the small fishroom......I've gotten my fish posters already mounted on the wall still have a couple more to get in frames. Also you see a shot of where I didn't install any drywall yet, as still undecided as to what style exhaust fan I want to put in. Behind the vapor barrier the duct work is already in place.

And for the last bit for the day a pic of the mounting area where the moveable light rack tracks will be attached.

Started looking at different moldings for the stand and around the tank area and need some opinions? I've narrowed it down to 2 choices and need your opinion. Which of the 2 molding styles do you like? If you have some other good pics please post them......
