Another thing I've noticed is my plate coral is growing wayyyyyy too big for my tank. I really need to be looking for a larger tank soon so I can move everyone in there. It would be a nice center piece in a large tank for the size it's at right now. Same with the Blue Millipora, Pink Tip Hammer, and the Pink Tip Frogspawn, all growing wayyy too big for my tank now. They would definatelly look nice in a bigger tank. I can't wait til this summer so I can buy the darn tank..... :happyfish
What was your fish that you have in your tank currently? I just know you have clowns!! Bozo and Marlin? Right???

Bozo and Nemo! I have 2 Green Chromis (Itchy & Scratchy), Green Mandarin (Lucy), and a Naso Tang (Nate). A Peppermint Shrimp (Peppie). A bunch of Snails, bunch of baby snails too, my nassarius had babies. Then those 2 over sized exotic hermits that I can't wait to move, then about 5 blue legged and 1 scarlet (These came as hitchhikers). Forgot to mention that I also have clams and keyhole limpets that came as hitchhikers too. :happyfish

That is good....... but a bit small of a tank for a naso isn't it? (I am not flaming ya..... Just do not know!) But if he is happy there are exceptions for every rule!!!

Yea it is very small for him, but he's happy. He is still a little fish, but when we move into a bigger house, he'll get a larger house too. Hopefully it will be less then one year. They grow rather slow compare to other tangs. He used to live with 3 Heniochus Butterfly, they were his buds. He was very depressed when they died, I bought the new lights and it heated to 84 degrees during the day while I'm at work and back to 78 at night when I get home. When I first fired it up while I was at home, it did not do that. I had no idea that was happening the whole time and couldn't figure out why they were getting sick again. They got sick twice before that when we decided to add live rock and was cured just a week before the new lights so it was too much for them to handle and that killed them. 3 times in a role is too much. But I managed to save the Naso Tang, but the two Chromis never got sick, they're indestructible, they've lived through EVERYTHING!!! Nate wouldn't eat nothing for me at all and was thin to his bones and very sick with ich. I managed to get him to eat formula 2 and come home for a little bit each day to just feed him extra food, I feed A LOT during that period and didn't care I was polluting the water, I just do extra water changes if needed. We thought he was going to die anyday since he was so sick and couldn't swim right. I fed him about 3-4 times a day everyday. I turn off all filtration during feeding since he couldn't swim through the current to catch the food and I always put the food right around him. He started eating after a couple of tries. He started showing improvement within the first two days and more energized. He started gaining his weight back in a week, then after 3 weeks of feeding with just formula 2, he was all better, but had those faded spots from ich, I then started feeding his algae sheets again, those spots started to fade away. Formula 2 contains garlic extract and I totally believe in that stuff cause it's worked for me numerous times. He's one fat Naso tang right now, he's developed a taste for pods too after he was well. It's been 4 months now since he was cured from ich. He's gaining more color right now and he's a very beautiful fish, my favorite of all my fish. If any of my animals is sick or unhappy, I'm the first to know since I take care of'em. My fish and corals tells me what I need to do since they show signs when things aren't right. In my aggressive tank, they develop spots like ich when water needed to be changed. In my reef, the coraline would fade to white when calcium is needed. When I needed to buffer, my corals would show signs of distress. I don't ever need to test because they would tell me what I needed to add. It works everytime, but I still take my water in to be tested just to be sure everytime and the end result is what I knew that should be done in the first place because of what my corals and fish tells me to do. I hope all this makes sense to ya, I kinda cut it short cause I'll just babble on and on about it....

I understand! That sounds like you know what is going on with them!!! That is good! So I am guessing that you are plaining on moving this summer, cause you have said a couple of times before that you plan to get a new tank then!!! Sorry you had to go through that problem!!!

Not this summer, but I am planning on getting a bigger tank. Just not that big, looking at about 75-110 gallon tank. Don't have a space for a 6' tank right now. I'm taking down 3 FW tanks and replace'em with one larger tank too, around 75 gallon for that one. So I would end up with one FW, one SW aggressive and two reef tanks. Once I move into a house, then I would have a 125-180 gallon tank to put Nate in, it would be FOWLR. I hope we'll have a house by next year. We're planning on it.... :happyfish

It took me 5 hours on setting the sump/fuge up!!! Trying to get the skimmer adjusted right. Not sure how it is right now, it takes a few days to break in. Took me about 2 hours getting water and the plumbing etc. Now it's time for dinner and shower....I'm worn out, my corals aren't very happy right now....We'll see what happens tomorrow... :happyfish

It'll probably take'em a day to recover from all the new changes. I hope they'll pull it through. I'll check my water too tomorrow to make sure everything is stable. I put in bio-sediment stuffs and it's clouding up my water a bit right now, it'll be clear tomorrow I hope.... :happyfish

Well, two days later I finally got it right. I was about to bust it in pieces!!! After working 5 hours setting it up and 2 hours the next night tuning it and 3 hours again tonight, finally found out the cause of micro-bubbles, it was by the skimmer, took my old prefilter box and put it in, that took care of the problem. To my surprise tonight, the darn hermits dugged out that long lost Army Green Zoa! I dunno how they did it, but they dugged it out for me from that nook in the rocks. I hurried to retrieve it out of the back and placed it in the front of the tank. Going to glue it down first thing in the morning!!!!! I check it everyday for progress with my flash light, I couldn't find it tonight and I searched for it and I was sooooooooooooooooo happy to find it on the sandbed in the back. I am really curious how they dug that zoa out of the nook. My corals looked much better now after I rid the bubbles!!!! I have to check my water tomorrow, after all this mess, I'm afraid to see what my water levels are.... Trust me, it was like a storm in my tank for last couple days. I almost regret putting in this new system. I'm going to pick up Chaetos, Bristle worms, 2 cups of fuge sand to jump start my fuge(from someone else's tank), Orange Cap, and Purple Edge Cap tomorrow night. I have to get rid of one or two of my green caps, I started out with 2, now I have 4. I keep on breaking them when I move stuffs around. Lots of work tomorrow!!! I'll post pictures as soon as everything settles down. :happyfish

Yes we have made up. I'm not that mad at them anymore....The long lost zoas have opened up today under the Actinics. Not as pretty as it should be, but it still has it's yellow skirts showing. It would be a couple of days before it looks pretty again. Things are calming down today, tested everything, I thought it was gonna be bad, but everything was fine except PH, it was low at 7.8 I buffered it. With the new system, I can just dump the whole solution right into my sump without any doubt. I have once almost killed my frogspawn when the undissolved particals landed right on it. My hammer was looking really bad with all those micro-bubbles, it balooned up with air pockets. It's gone down about half way now after I rid the bubbles. All the pods returned after that storm. My Mandarin was looking a bit thin cause all the pods went into hiding and she had nothing to eat for the past 3 days. She found them last night and was munching on them big time. I'm gonna be feeding my corals tonight cause they looked a bit rough. It would probably take a week or so before everything is back to normal again. I'll take my pictures when everything is calm. :happyfish

I sure am now!!! Finally got the correct name of the coral I'm getting, it's a German Blue Polyp Montipora Digitata. He's giving it to me when I host the reef meeting in June. It's great when you host parties like that and people bring you gifts. :happyfish
