Dude, post every hour if you want/need to.
BTW I don't look at it as you being $7 in the hole, I look at it as 2 successful days of no tobacco!

my father broke me off chewing tobacco before i could get truly started...if i wanted to be a MAN and chew tobacco (around age 10 i think...i grew up in Oregon, give me some slack) i was going to CHEW tobacco like a MAN. so he put half a can of chew in my mouth and didn't let me spit for half an hour...
needless to say, i haven't touched the stuff in 25 years...
good luck. this isn't thriftiness, this is healthiness :) don't forget, you've probably already screwed up some of your gums by chewing, but by stopping you're already recovering.

If you want to post every day then go right ahead. Whatever helps. We're here for you if you need us and we know you can do this. It's extremely hard to quit.
My motivation is my baby. lol Before I even took a test I lit up a cigarette and after two puffs I was sicker than a dog. Just the smell of cigarette smoke right now is sickening. lol
You can do this. Think about the long term effects from not using tobacco. You're gums will be much happier for it and you'll lengthen your life expectancy too!

Cig smoke is sickening to me too
But I know, I couldn't tell you how many times I have been told that my "spitting" is so gross.
Thanks for the support...

No problems there. She has been numero uno every time I have ever even thought about ditching this habit. I was doing it when we started dating in high school, so she didn't try to change me, but she has steered clear and gone more than out of her way to help. She came home today with a whole freakin' case of David Sunflower seeds (Now I'm not deducting that from my running total....I didn't buy them #1, and #2 the kids started tearing into them even before I could. I'm mainly deducting items that "I" legitimately purchase that would be over and beyond had I not be purchasing tobacco).

Yes, we are kind of dealing/talking about two different things here. But the "thrify" aspect is helping me stay focused (a little
). Like mentioned in the OP, I'm not making too many promises this time (been there/done that...and it hurts when you can't follow thru). I was/am approaching it more on the spectrum of paying for this trip, but with the realization that "IF" I can make it that far along, I most likely will never go back. I mean, who would put themselves thru this torture just to do it over again...

But, this does lead me into my next question/search for help.....
My downfall in the past, is coming up soon. I have been able to make it past the "hell" of the physical pain associated with the first days to week or two, but my problem is always about 2-3 wks in. It's around this time frame, that my brain convinces me that there is no reason to continue. Seriously...if you have not been thru this, you will have no idea what I'm talking about. But really, something comes over me that totally rationalizes out why this is a stupid idea, nobody is watching, nobody cares, I'm not hurting anybody, so wth??? I'm not at that point now, but I know it's coming. And in previous attempts, I am in such a fog that I truely believe this thought process, and succomb. I know it's coming....
Does anyone have a clue what I'm talking about?

Oh do I!!!! First...you have to convince yourself that you are stronger than a freakin can of skoal (me cigarette) that you are IN NO WAY gonna let some crappy $4 a can stuff beat you
I told myself over and over....I WILL NOT LOSE THIS TIME
5 years later...I'M A WINNER
and you can be too
remember....in the long run you hurt yourself (health) your family (they can lose you due to health) and the family you may never know (grandchildren) cause you killed yourself over some darn chewing tabacco

you can do it!!!!!! I'm telling you....I smoked from 8 years old until 40.....and If I could do it....so can you

Completely agree with Meow!
When I quit drinking on day 16 I thought I would give it one last go. So there is something about that time frame. Maybe it is like a pilot, they say the most dangerous time for a pilot is when they are around the 100 hour mark.
Hey you want to quit bad enough, I mean you keep trying. So why not do it for good this time?

Dang....That's weird as all get out. I am, well was, a pilot....small aircraft (Cessna 150's, 152's, 182's). It's been a long time, but for you to use this analogy....
Maybe I told you about this before...
Or maybe my brain is just mush right now....

I just wanted to lend my support. I smoked for 10 years, haven't in 7, but there are still days when I want one. You can do it, after the first few days teh nicotine is gone and your body has adjusted, from there it's just mental. You are stonger than this. You can do it

I know, I know.....Any other time, I would be 100% agreeing. But right now, my brain is entering that stage of stupid denial. I appreciate all of the advice here, and I plan to look at it daily to remind myself that I'm not psycho.

Anyone ever notice that if you have a mouthfull of sunflower seeds, and you stop cracking/spitting them one at the time, and just start chewing up the whole wad.....you get this awesome "buttery" taste. It must be something released from chewing the shells because you never taste this while cracking one at the time....

Good for you, and good luck T....Wow 26 years!!!
Had an economics Professor in college that said tobacco and the lottery are a tax on stupid people. A bit offensive (and funny), but over time the money really adds up.
Hope you can get through it man.

A Scout is Trustworthy.
I can guarantee you one thing, I never have, nor will I ever, lie to another human being, regardless of in-person or on a forum. Very few could understand this, but I expect you do PEZ.
