Tilapa are fed with their own ****....probably should avoid that fish for health reasons :p I got no complaints about salmon and the good fats in salmon are among the best in foods!
I'm another that can't eat fish if it tastes like fish and that pretty much means all fish to me. I hate shrimp/crab/lobster too...so gross.
I do eat tuna--sometimes straight from the can. Also, fried grouper here is a big deal and doesn't taste like fish at all.....although I don't know how hard that is to get since the oil spill.

I totally agree with you. Shrimp, crabs and lobsters are sea bugs...it's like eating a giant bug... the only flesh you have to eat from them is after it is hated up and cooked, otherwise it's clear bug guts..YUCK and fishy tasting fish means not fresh to me, so I won't eat it if it smalls or tastes fishy, fishy. I can eat tuna but not right from the can, maybe a little bite but not just eat it that way.
Shrimps, crabs and lobsters are pets not food...

You are so missing out! Nothing like SCUBA diving for your own lobsters and cooking them up on the beach a minute after you pull them out of the water!

Wasn't this a broken romance thread? Anyway, yeah,Central American talapia are as filthy a food as you can eat. There was one place in Costa Rica that was filmed using the nearby city's sewer water for their tank pens. It was treated sewage so I guess that makes it ok. But the fish is a bottom feeding, trash fish anyway. I don't eat carp whether raised in sewage or not. I kinda look at talapia the same way.

Fresh tuna is amazing. (if it is done right) We aren't talking the canned variety...

There's a big difference between fresh fish and "fresh fish" at the grocery store. More than a day out of the water and my family can tell.

LOL...isn't that what a last breath is? It's just a sea bug, I really am not bashing you, just playing around.

yeah so am I. You know, I know they're bugs, but they taste soo good. What gets me is the Japanese consider those big cephalopods (sp?) a delicacy...

When I go home during lobster season, my uncle would go out and catch me one and throw it right in a pot of ocean water..... god it was good.

Honestly, I"ve never eaten a good crawfish at a restaurant. The problem is unless you get them alive, and eat them right after the boil, they get chewy and nasty if you don't.

LOL...I had to look that up to see what it was. EEEWWW
Anyway I have to agree that fresh caught is 1000% different than fresh caught bought in the store. I have a friend that likes to fish...his is the only fish I eat, it's always tasty..

But not sea bugs or squid, they are still pets.

I don't know how to spell it but I've have Crawdad A to Fay which isn't even close to how to spell it but it was fantastic. Other than that the only one's I've eaten were fresh caught at a lake in Arizona and boiled live. Good eating. One girl that was there with us pulled a head off wrong. She sees the guts inside and says "hey, what's this green stuff". Her brother says it's Guacamole and she says "Oh" and eats it.

I used to work on a shrimp boat here in FL and the shrimp we used to get tasted really good. I'm not sure if my taste changed or if the shrimp changed, but after a while I just grew to hate the taste and it grosses me out now. Probably due to all the sewage being dumped close to where a lot of shrimpers end up fishing.
I've caught a lot of fish here that people swear don't taste like fish..but it's all the same to me...fresh or not.. Snook tastes just like fish..redfish tastes just like fish...trout tastes just like fish... It's almost like there is something in common with all of these things....
btw..anybody like scallops??? then have I got a story for you!...lol
