Now I'm not terribly sure what the feds are actually doing, nor do I claim to have better boots on the ground ideas. But I do know, trashing the company actually doing the work, threatening them, opening criminal investigations at this point is counterproductive. And make me think these jokers in Washington have no interest in actually solving this problem.
Obama's wagging his finger at BP for the future votes, plain and simple. He realizes this debacle is turning into his 'Katrina', and he wants to give the American people that 'warm and fuzzy' feeling that "He's there for them, and will do whatever it takes to insure this never happens again." How many times have I heard that speech come out of a politicians mouth.

Hey I was just pointing out the positions on a couple of widely accepted political figures who are considered conservative figureheads. LOL, I agree that true conservatives are pretty rare, seems like the GOP tried to get on the bandwagon by shaking the conservative tree and a bunch of squirrels fell out. I am having trouble though understanding where conservatism stops and libertarianism starts to be honest. We need good honest government, not neccesarily less in the case of safety, corporate and banking oversight, food inspection, civil rights etc, seems like a lot of far-right people just want to get rid of all of these things completely and are willing to let companies like Goldman-Sachs and BP act in our best interest which might as well be a return to the middle ages and the great houses of Europe.

I fail to see the problem with Jindal asking for federal aid, being that he legally can't do anything... Although him saying anything means it isn't going to happen. Dems will be damned before they let a republican do anything constructive, just like Blanco shut down Bush days before katrina...
And I'll argue today that drilling for oil is safe. So I don't understand your problem with Palin either...

As far as I'm concerned everything a democrat does is for votes and power.

You don't see any problem with Jindal mocking Volcano research which is a real threat around here for political gain and trying to get street creds with the far-right, then asking for help from the government with the oil spill..........really?
You can't see a problem with Palin running here mouth down there just two weeks before this disaster happened? They might be able to safely drill in the future, but how you can say it is safe at this point has me a bit cornfused. What is all that black stinking stuff in the gulf right now?

That is your problem, for some reason you must think that the republicans are not just as guilty. LOL

Tell me, do you get into your car and drive? Do you feel that while you're driving you're safe? Car wrecks happen all the time. When you shoot, do you feel safe? What is the difference, they're engaging in a relatively dangerous activity, they've drilled thousands and thousands of wells in the gulf, millions and millions of barrels of oil have been extracted. With this being the only major spill in US waters since when? There is this thing called perspective...
As for Jindal, had he been complaining about the federal response (if there was one I'm not familiar with the eruption in the early 80's) to the St. Helen's eruption, then you'd have a point. Plus you're taking him out of context. he was talking about the stimulus package, and how spending a couple hundred million on volcano monitoring wasn't going to stimulate the economy. But in the end, we're not talking about an emergency response, it is apples and oranges...

Doesn't Palin fall under the same free speach as the rest of the population? This Palin derangement syndrom is wide spread. She was at least as qualified to be vice president as Obama was to be president. Not saying that either would be on my top 100 list, just sayin

Okay, real quick cause I am out for a tasty burrito that will hopefully help what has so far been a crappy day in the real world.
Even though my car is completely bad-assed and will make the Kessel run in 9 parsecs, I doubt that crashing it would cause the possible death of an entire section of ocean and the ecosystem living there. So guns and cars while they can be dangerous to a small number are a poor comparison.

If volcanos worry you don't live next door to one.

Research is not a good area to attempt to create new jobs and that was the obvious point Jindle was making.

yawn, but no criticism of Obama? The Obama federal government had BP up for a safety award...

I'm heartbroken,,,,every night I watch the NBC Nightly News update from the coast of Louisiana...and every night the story worsens.....the coast line is dieing inch by inch....the birds are suffering.....the fisherman and their families are basically out of work....imagine what's happening to what we can't see at the moment.....:(
If everyone would STOP throwing the blame card around and put their heads together, maybe they can come up with a plan and fix this.............at this point who cares who looks better then the next person....STOP THIS......our ecosystem is what's losing right now......

So far most of the boat owners aren't hurting because BP has them working the clean up. It's what happens once the oil is gone thats going to be an issue. If this does kill the fishing beds it's going to be bad. But what will be a big mess is if it just has a negative effect on the fishing for a few seasons. How do you determine to what extent that is BP's fault? The lawyers are going to clean up, that is the only thing we know for sure.

I agree but Obama is running scarred and wants to demonize BP. I don't get the way he has responded to this. I don't mean that he should be out maning a boom line but it it were me I would set up camp on the coast there a few days and at least look like I was kicking some tails. Bush avoided Katrina because it would have been a logistical nightmare at first. Obama doesn't have that to worry about so he should have been on scene a lot sooner.

LOl...I am not an Obama lover...LOL...as a matter of fact..I really don't like him at all...BUT...I could care less about blame right now.....him...BP....whoeever....I am not big into politics....you will notice I very very rarely post in political threads....all I care about is what is happening to the environment right now.....
Let's work on fixing this....then go after whoever....or is it whomever

Oh please. You actually made that comment with a straight face? Bush's middle name was Power. His Daddy's was Vote. "Billion Points Of Light. Not Gonna Do It." Good try. Keep em' coming. They get better with every post.

The money for St. Helen's was going to be used to install an Early Warning Detection System. It would monitor the activity inside the volcano so that it could warn the people who lived near the thing before an eruption occurred. I guess Jindal figures that if the Feds couldn't save his New Orleans people during a disaster, why should they spend money trying to save the fools who want to live next to a volcano? Jindal's a political hack that's one step above the intelligence of Palin, which means he's about as smart as a box of rocks.

Exactly but the problem is you have politicians involved in this and so you get the blame game.

Riiiight. You keep em coming Judy proves you can't win when it comes to ideas... If W was power hungry he sure has a funny way of showing it. He did almost nothing when it came to defending himself from a litney of lies and false accusations.

I heard on the news this morning somthing about BP announcing that they would no longer drill in the gulf. I assume that means no more new wells. Anyone have any details?
