The skimmate issue... You know what? Let's give you that. Let's assume the magnets do increase skimmate production in some way. Read some of the other claims on their webpage. That's what makes this snake oil. Whoever wrote up the info on their webpage doesn't have any sort of chemistry of biological training.
Like I said, I'll be willing to entertain the thought that the magnetic field generated by the magnets allows the skimmer to pull more junk out of the water.
Like I (think) I've said; their claims are way over-blown and I would never buy one of these based on their sales pitch. I also agree that whoever wrote the web pitch is no biologist. But; Bob Goemans, who wrote the piece on a competing site does have credentials. I've also compared their fluff to Marc Weiss products; almost as fluffy, but good stuff. I'm really not trying to convince anyone to buy one of these and agree that they sound like snake oil; but I like mine and have read here, and elsewhere from folks that like theirs. How does it work? I have no idea; but scientists don't know how aspirin works, either. I also, obviously enjoy a controversial topic once in a while.
