My tank is going to be primarily zoos and sps so once we both get our tanks flourishing we should trade frags.
You are right, you probably saved money by not driving. As far as trading frags, you got!

Just got my first critters in the tank. A schlew of turbo / margarita snails and some nassiurus (sp). Also got a fire shrimp and cleaner shrimp, some zoos , and a leather similar to the devils hand. ( I think its a finger leather?)
Also found out my nitrate test kit was bad. It showed over 100 nitrates , but when i got it tested at the store it showed undetectable.
I bought a different test and it reads 10 nitrate.
I can handle that for now. Hopefully the cheato will help.
Dang fire shrimp is nowhere to be found right off the bat

Cleaner seems to love attention though.

The zoos and leather don't seem to happy, still getting used to their surroundings. Once they open up I'll take some pics.

Okay you asked for pictures. Here they are . some good some bad.

Cleaner:

The illusive fire shrimp that never comes out (this is of his reflection lol)

zoos half open:

leather (still taking a bit to be completely happy)

snail / coraline (which has been taking off lately):

finally a decent full tank shot (messed with the camera for a bit)

What do you think?

Tank is looking great! GREAT zoos!
After I learned the fire shrimp can be MIA most of the time, I decided to get two cleaner shrimp. They are out all the time, and even clean my hand when it's in the tank. (They even bug me some times and I have to shew them away.)

(P.S. I'm going to order my MHs tomorrow!

Curious what size plumbing you used on your inlet and outlet of your mag pump. I used 3/4 and I'm wondering if that is why I'm getting so much noise out of the pump.

Thanks AZfishgal, and congrats on the lighting. good choice!
Gustavo, I use 3/4 inlet and 1 inch on the outlet. Seems to work good for me . I would've done both 1 inch but I drilled my glass sump and those diamond tipped glass cutting bits aren't cheap, so I opted for all 3/4" bulkheads. (1 inch bulkhead bit was twice the price)

Update: Leather is looking good. Finally looks like its comfortable.

I recieved the cheato in the mail and its in the fuge now. I built this little box out of eggcrate to keep the fuges drain from getting clogged with the macro. (the fuge is drilled and then drains to the sump return area (2 seperate tanks)

So what color are your polyps on your leather, when they are fully open? Also where did you get your leather and zoos? They are nice.

Whitish brown (horrible description lol)
Nothing special is the point.
I got them at a LFS on 12th st and bell rd.
The girlfriend and I just got back from a trip to cabo, and I did some snorkeling there. Amazing stuff. I hope the underwater pictures come out. If they did I will post!

Picked up two things yesterday. A pink long tentacle plate coral, and a yellow headed sleeper goby.
Also the cleaner and fire shrimp seem to be friendly with each other, not fighting. The stay on the same ledge together:

Here is the new coral:

And the new fish (bad pics because he is in QT)

Hiding in the PVC:

The top portion doesn't open up as wide as the sides, do you think they are unhappy under the halides? perhaps put them in a shade? IDK.

They are in medium indirect flow half way down the tank. you suggest trying them out closer to the bottom? Still medium indirect flow correct?

yea i would try that if they are not opening up under that intense lighting. medium indirect flow is fine, but you may want to experiment with lessening that and see if you get better results.
