So glad I can help. I did the same thing when I first started. I'm almost done stocking though so it shouldn't take you long to catch me. That's of course until I upgrade to a larger tank.

hihi.... my tank is nothing compare to yours ... but hey .. that's all we can afford right now .... we have no kid yet so i have more time for this hobby..... hope that i have patient and anouf courage to pass to christmas with no dying fish or what ever it is

Azfishgal....great post. I read the entire post and it is entertaining and quite helpful. There were sevral questions I had about things when setting up a tank and your posts answered most. The pics are wonderful....beuatiful tank!
I am new to this forum and I am just now putting my tank together. I have a 55G....I just began cycling the tank with some live rock given to me by a friend and will be adding more this week-end...all the info and details around the QT were right on target. I have mine set-up and it will be ready to go.

I'm so glad the info helped you. You are doing exactly what I did, read a lot of threads and did a lot of research before I got started. SEVERAL people on here really helped me out. So I don't mind passing on that help even though I'm still learning. Did you start your own Diary? I'll have to look and see.

I had my MHs on for seven hours today and the tank temp didn't move!!!
Stayed at 80.3 the entire time. I think this is because I have my lights up pretty high and I know the fan makes a big difference. Left it off one time and tank raise 3 degrees in 2 hours!
As soon as they are on for 8 hours I'll add them to the timer and then the fan will automatically go on when the lights come on.

I have not started a diary yet....I suppose i should because my tank is circulating and has just a few pieces of lv in it. I plan to go get more this week-end. I will look into starting this week-end. I am going away for about 10 days, so a perfect time to begin cycling.

We'll see how long it lives. (J/K to those how think I won't take care of it.) I do wish though, that it would stay in one spot, BUT it's foot still has not moved but moved up and down the rock it's on. He have to keep moving my fuzzy mushroom so it won't sting it. Hey, are you going to the frag meeting tomorrow. LOTS of cool stuff being traded/sold. Check it out on --. I'll be there picking up a few things.

I only run my T5s for about an hour before the MHs are on and an hour after they go off. I run the MHs for seven hours at this point (will be at 8 hours in a few days). One of my 10K T5s just went out though, so I might take the 10K bulb out of the other fixutre and just run the actinics. I have to say my tank looks really cool under the actinics only.

Also, Tuesday is the day my three Anthias go in the DT and I will then purchase my Sailfin Tang.
