Very nice pics, and congrats on the growth of the Birdsnest(my fav., I am a SPS guy, mostly), all of your Zoo's are super colorful, I'm jealous. I have to admit I really like the Zoo's just as much, they have so much variation, my LFS never really has any cool ones
. Your tank is looking great so far, keep up the excellent work. I hope your Hippo comes out OK, mine looks to have HLLE, it's been that way just about since I've gotten it about 1.5 yrs. ago. Not real bad, just a couple of spots, I try to give them the best food and vitamins, is irreversible,IMO. Doesn't seem to getting worse, so hopefully it can live with what it has so far. Very cool fish, but super sensitive(I know you know all about it). Good luck
.

Hey Tripp, how did your Hippo start showing signs of HLLE? I have noticed on my Hipp small pin size "holes" (not really sure how else to describe them) around his eye, but only on one side. How does HLLE start? Can this be early signs of it. I'll try to get a picture but it's hard, she likes to move around a lot.
Oh, I also LOVE zoos!!!! I have ordered all mine except the Tub's Blues. Paid $40 bucks for my small frag from a local reefer. My lfs doesn't have any colorful ones that I have seen. Either that or they get bought up before I get there.

That is how it started with my "Dory", although it started more along the lateral line. I thought at first maybe it just scraped itself or something, but after a little while(a couple of weeks) some more little spots of erosion along line and now she does have a little area around her eye on the one side. She eats, and has grown with this disease from about 1.5" to now, I'd say she is about 4" or so. I am hoping that through diet, I can sort of keep it from getting worse, it is slowing, but like I said, I think it may be a losing battle. Part of the problem at first was that she sleeps in a very tight crevice at night, and I thought she was just injuring herself at night time. Good luck with yours, I hope yours and mine for that matter, live a long time, I do wonder if they are suffering in any way though. Mine seems very content???
I feel your pain, I wish I could give you more answers, I don't know if it is even understood totally by the formally educated ???.

Great pics... Your corals and tank look amazing. I'm slacking on pics of the frag tank so maybe I'll take a cue from you.
When you said you are seeing great growth from the zoos, could you post some pics from when you got them and what they look like now with some kind of timeframe? Maybe on all your corals if you had time. That would be pretty cool to see.

So what steps are you taking, from a diet stand point, to try and curb it? I never noticed any problems when I first bought her, but now that she is growing she seems to have these mini "pot holes" in her face around her eye and on top of her nose. There is nothing on the lateral line though.

OK, lets see if I can help you out.
These zoos where placed in my tank on April 27th, and the after pictures were taken yesterday, so that is a 4 month time frame. The growth speed really picked up though when the MHs where added in July.

The branch on the far left and the one at the bottom right has also split, but you can't see it in this picture.

I feed all the fish the same thing, but is a mix of frozen, fresh, and flake(sparingly). I give the tangs fresh cucumbers(sliced), and spinach. The romaine lettuce thing, is mostly to keep their bellies full, very little nutrient value. I mix Selcon and Kent Zoe Marine,Vita-Chem, and sometimes the Kent concentrated ChromaMax(mostly used for coral, but I figure I'll give it a try). I soak the fresh and frozen foods in the Vitamin mix for about 15 to 30min. before feeding. I do make my own food sometimes too, I tend to burn up household appliances though, so I get into trouble from my better half. I guess I should invest in a good food processor. Like I said, don't know if I can reverse it, just trying to do the best I can.

Wow, those are great growth shots... And quick response! That birds nest is growing quick huh?
Your making me want to get MH and SPS now... Cant wait to break that one to the wife. I think I'm wearing her down now though cause she did some shopping for her birthday (which is tomorrow) and I asked her if she wanted anything else and she actually said - get this - I want another clownfish for the frag tank!
Thanks for posting the pics AZ!

Thanks Matt for the feedback. I've been meaning to buy some Vita-Chem and now that I'm starting to see the little "pits" in Dory I need to make that a priority.

Well, I was actually thinking about doing a before/after post anyway, so you just pushed me over the edge to do it now.
And IMO I do believe that's quick growth for an SPS. Of course I'm no expert, maybe Murph can tell me if it's a good sign. I have the birdsnest in high flow, right under the MHs up high, so I'm assuming he likes it.

I know you probably look very closely at her, just make sure it is not the normal striation in their faces(little lines), will become more pronounced as it gets bigger, the vitamins won't hurt, I just want you to not be freaked out, I guess. Good luck
. On a side note, I really miss living out there sometimes, loved the weather and atmoshpere.

Thanks Matt, and I'm not panicked. She's doing very well otherwise and I see no lines on her, just tiny pits around her left eye and two on top of her head. She also squeezes in a very tight spot when she sleeps and seems to always be laying on that one side with the pits, so maybe that has something to do with it.

I was looking at the "murph" thread, IMO yes it is very encouraging, looks like very nice polyp extension, and very nice new growth. I would say keep doing what your doing, looks very good. With SPS you don't want to see bleaching or RTN(Rapid Tissue Necrosis), looks like skin peeling off.
