I think the biggest mistake people make in these threads is they equate human feelings to the way a fish would feel. That is not a criticism, but it does lead to threads such as this one where people are arguing feelings versus facts. This leads to phrases like " you can do it, but your fish won't be happy" or " how would you feel living is a box, your fish will get stressed out and die." Being concerned about the health of a fish should be applauded, but applying human feelings to a fish leads to an abundance of misinformation
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
This is a MAJOR issue in many of these threads, and it has cause many arguments in the past.
As an aside, I did not catch this thread earlier, and I apologize to grumpygils for that.
I would just like to ask that while you may disagree with people, please explain your point logically...do not call people names, or ignorant, etc. One, as demonstrated here, you may find your foot in your mouth.
But we prefer not to have such names on this board when we can prevent it. Everyone should be able to make their points in a mature way. I understand people are very passionate, but name calling in general tends to keep people from coming back and learning more. It is often counterproductive.
I never like the come back of "its not the ocean" in such threads. But it is clear that this hobbyist has not overstocked his tank. Now, MOST people who have such fish (esp the panther grouper) do not know about these fish an their potential issues. But be careful about jumping to conclusions, IMO.
