Yes but once you come in contact with the ball you have a much better chance of hitting it over the fence. Hank used to be friends with Bonds until the creme "Accident".

There are studies, albeit limited that have shown steroids help with depth perception, which will help you make contact and they will with out a doubt improve bat speed, reaction time and quickness. I heard an interview with one of the chemists who helped design the cream and clear for Balco and during that discussion they got into how the Russian sports scientists did a lot of studies on steriods and one of the areas they seemed to help was depth perception, periphal vision and a few other things related to vision.

he admitted to a grand jury that he took the cream and clear from balco, which is a steroid...this is not hearsay, this is a fact.

It just amazing to me how judgemental everyone is being. I guess you all have lived perfect lives and have no skeletons in your closets. Yeah, right! Can't be done and be human at the same time. None of you Bond's haters have ever walked in his shoes and until you do, you should save your comments. Funny how no one has mentioned that since testing started, Barry has kept if not stepped up his pace. But, that's probably because he's found something undectable as yet, right? You all probably think that Babe Ruth was a nice guy, too, just misunderstood. Give me a break!!! If you think that many of the great players of the past were leading clean lives you're dreaming.

I wish I could have walked in his shoes. Bonds grew up privileged and had every advantage imaginable. And even with that he felt like he had to cheat. You're right; people shouldn't be judgemental. As far as I know, though, none of us on the board every played Major League Baseball and cheated our way to a significant record. If he can't handle being judged, he can quit.

I don't take illegal drugs, I don't abuse women, I am not a racist and I'm not a jerk...these are all qaulities that the great barry has. Not to mention, the guy can still hit but have you seen him field, it's embarrassing and he is liability to his team. Walk in his shoe's? Lol, the guys grew up with tons of $$, he is a famous athelete, amazing baseball skill, huge $$ contracts and fame...poor guy.
The chemists designing the new drugs are sooooo far ahead of the tests it's not even funny (if you don't believe me do some research on how difficult it is to first find the adnormalities to find the new drugs then break down the new drugs to design the tests to detect and add in that they can only be urine tests).
My question to you, what makes him a good guy? would you want him to be a rolemodel to your kids? Lets face it, whether or not professional athlets should or should not be rolemodels they are and they have a responsibility to act in an appropriate manner.

So is that it? You're jealous because he grew up privileged? Is there any sport that you think player's haven't tried to get an advantage in? We, the outsiders wishing we could be like them, have put them on such a pedestal is the reason behind it, too. Why do you think we have to pay so much to see them play now? It's all just big business. And if you think that Bond's has made it this far because he "cheated" his way through or because of who he is related to or knew or how he grew up, you're kidding yourself. Bond's has been hounded because of all those reasons, too, is that fair? It sounds to me that you just want to believe anything negative that you've read or heard and of course, that's all gospel, right? If you think so, I have bridge for sale you might be interested in.........lol!

I'm certainly not jealous. I was just pointing out that Bonds had plenty of advantages, making his desire to cheat even worse. And that the shoes he walked in were probably pretty expensive, and got him into places I probably never could. And I don't just believe anything negative. I have a brain, I can process information, use rational thought, and come to the conclusion that he cheated. As has already been pointed out, he's admitted to it, as have many others.
Seriously, why does anyone defend this guy? He epitomizes everything that's wrong with sports.

For the folks in the Bay area, it's probably because it's a dreadful sports town and outside of Barry they have nothing (not since the great Niner's days) and they hang on to Barry cus that's all they have. Also, it is a black and white thing outside of the Bay for the most part (just like it is with Vick).

Sounds like more jealousy to me. And, as a matter of fact, he has been a role model already for my son. Back in 1998, when my son was going through his radiation treatments at UCSF, we were brought to several Giant's functions of which Barry and many of the other players were there, too. Barry spent actual time with my son and was quite an inspiration to all of us. Now, you can try to rebuke this but it was real and it happened, I was there. You can believe me or not, I really don't care, because I know it was true as well as about 150 other people that were there that time and several thousand who were that the second time. So, you'll never convince me just how bad he is, unless you perhaps met with him and he was degrading to you personally???

I'm sure he's capable of being a nice guy. That doesn't mean he's not capable of cheating the game.

When's the last time any of those teams won anything? I grew up in the Bay Area, so I'm familiar with winning. What's going on there now is not winning.
